I just changed my mind about how i pack

I used to be a firm believer in packing a bowl so it had a good centimeter between the foil and tobacco.Not anymore!!! I was packing a small bowl of Fumari Watermelon and decided, what the hell. why not try the ol' foil in contact with tobacco method. So i packed it a little higher than usual with a little mount in the middle. I put on the foil, began to smoke, and damn. It really does work well, it is better if not as good as my old method. Keep in mind the foil wasnt super stuck onto the shisha, i just decided to pack a little more. Any of you who use the space-between-shisha-and-foil method, consider trying the method of contact between foil and shisha.

Yup, I always do this too, and it works great. If you manage your heat right, you won't burn the tobacco. TONS of smoke and flavor this way, and my bowls seem to burn more completely (probably because of better heat transfer to the ma'assell).

not necessarily, could just be the juices evaporating rapidly, ever dropped some water on a hot pan, same sound

I did this with my last bowl and had great results. When I pulled the foil off, half of the tobacco came with it but nothing really burnt.

I always have contact between tobacco and foil, and I always have a sizzle when I put on a coal. The tobacco also always sticks to the foil when I remove the foil, but I never have had frequent burnage problems.

hmmm might need to pull the foil out to try this, Havent used foil in ages, but this sounds intresting.

I have always packed it right up to the foil with no problems, like ioannisds said, it's all about managing the heat.

I'm not good with managing heat. I think trying this would result in some burnt gross shisha.

i always pack the bowl so the foil touches the shisha. the only reason i dont get good hits at times is when I'm in a hurry and i overpack the bowl. other than that i get great puffs of white smoke everytime but ima gonna try the mound technique on some of my lighter stuff for starters.

I used to suck at managing heat, but I think just splitting to coal into thirds usually helps. Then you can take a piece off if it's too hot and therefore causing a harsh taste - or add more if it's not producing enough thick smoke.Getting the whole heat management thing down just takes a lot of fiddling with your hookah. Oh and a lot of spare time to smoke your hookah.Speaking of which....adios!
