bomber0104
Hey.. I can't figure out what is wrong with my hookah. It has gone downhill really quick. The smoke remains in the vase which I've never seen happen in any other Hookah i've smoked. It is also starting to get harsh really quick to the point where I have to blow out the smoke every 10 hits or so. I've tried to adjust the valve on the side with no luck. It is a cheap hookah but I still don't see why the smoke would get stuck in there. What do you guys think
mattarios2
So you are saying when you inhale, the vase fills with smoke but you get no smoke? Or you get smoke but the vase stays filled in the vase? Because that is what it should do, when the hookah is flowing nicely the smoke should stay in the vase and you should not be able to clear the smoke in the vase. Sounds like you are either using too much heat or under packing the bowl. Also double check the pipe, purge ball, hose port and vase grommet for leaks. You can cover the top where the bowl goes with your finger and try to inhale. If the vase starts to bubble, you've got a leak somewhere. Possibly try those things and report back. [/quote] No I get the smoke but the vase fills up with smoke that stays there. You say that is what you want but I've only seen it happen with this particular hookah. I usually choose one piece of coal so I doubt its overheating. I'll test for leaks tomorrow and report back.. Thanks
mustang67n
what kind of coals are you using? and yes.. the vase SHOULD fill with smoke, and stay full of smoke, that is normal it sounds like too much heat/underpack as previously stated. pack your bowl fluffy and full to the rim or even a bit above it and let the foil touch it and pull it down. If you're using quicklighting coals (the ones you can light with a lighter) split it in half and try using on one half on the bowl. if thats not yielding any smoke or not enough, try the other half as well and put the coal(s) on the edge of the bowl.. even if it's just one coal. Pavo21
yah smoke should always be in the vase unless you have a KM or Syrian pipe because chinese pipes dont clear completely and myas dont clear etc but if its always harsh do what mustang said
mushrat
Air leak. Its drawing it into the base (im betting slowly or without much force) but not enough suction to draw it into the hose. Since he's not getting the proper suction the air flow isnt right and the coals are charring the top of the tobacco. Don't forget to take the hose off the hookah, plug one end and try sucking. Are you getting air? Move the hose around when you do this in case the leak is in a coil or in the handle and only happens in a certain position.
