Novacane
Hey guys, Long time lurker here, finally felt compelled to sign up! Recently bought my first tangiers phunnel, I was was previously using a Chinese Phunnel. As soon as I started to use it, I ran into a major problem. There seems to be some sort of blockage whenever I try to take a pull. I figured it was some sort of leak in the hookah or the hose, but the Chinese phunnel and my Egyptian bowl work perfectly fine. The grommet seems pretty secure so I have no idea what else it could be. By the way I use a KM/Fancy Hose/Coconaras for my setup. I also used Starbuzz, Tangiers, Al Fakher. Same outcome. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
mattarios2
Sounds like the foil is getting pressed against the opening of the phunnel. Do you notice the Tangiers phunnel opening is a different height than the Chinese? Just a thought. If that is the issue, pack more tobacco in there so the foil sits against the tobacco and leaves an opening between the phunnel hole and the foil.

kenshinx23
you have also gotten a bowl with an opening stem that is to long and over packing wont really fix that, how ever a hole in the middle of the foil will.
mattarios2
I prefer no hole in the foil over the middle where the opening is. If you pack the bowl full enough there is no need really. I find it just pulls more air in, probably necessary for tang but certainly not for nak. It actually works better without a hole for nak because as we all know, nak is a heat whore. Chreees
Sounds like your inner spire needs to be sanded down because the foil is blocking it due to its height. I, too, never poke a hole over the inner spire. More flavor if you don't, IMO.

Coyote
Yeah I would say that it sounds like there is some foil drag going on. Make your that your foil goes around the whole bowl and onto the neck so that dragging is reduced. Poking a whole in the center will reduce restriction and allow more heat to escape (prevent scorching) when you are not pulling. The less foil thats on the bowl, the more heat is able to escape and the more regulated the temperature is. I would imagine that people who take less "fresh air" breaks have more heat building up in their bowl. Mush, Pavo... I expect are these types of smokers that don't take the hose out of their mouths. lol. Just a guess. I know I don't.
