Teganv
Pardon if this should go in the drunk texting thread, since im not exactly sober, but I need some help/suggestions after opening my QT today. The gasket is on the QT but my small tangiers phunnel is so much bigger then it that there is nothing close to an air tight seal. I was thinking electrical tape would do the trick to make the seal air tight but wasn't sure if that would be okay to use, for the time being before I order a seal that would work, if one exists. So what are your experiences with this? I know Chris had (has?) a QT and im assuming used a tang phunnel on it at some point, so what can I use momentarily so that it fits snuggly? And is there any suggestions for where I could find a gasket that would allow it to fit snuggly without any mods. Thanks guys.
Pavo21
yah the tape should work or a paper towel, but there are gaskets out there that work i use them on mine
Epoch
A thick "mod" grommet should work well if thin grommets don't seal up.
mustang67n
I never had a problem with my tang phunnel on my QT. But the bowls arent all exactly alike. I'd suggest using a wet paper towel as a seal until you get a new gasket. That way you dont get any tape residue on the stem (the high temps the bowl can get to especially with a windcover can make the glue melt a bit)
vendetta_revived
Yeh, as Nate said, electrical tape does not sound like a good idea, because the bowl gets really hot and chances are good that the heat will vaporize the glue. Just use wet paper towel gaskets until you get some thick mod gaskets and you'd be golden!
mushrat
I use paper towel with my phunnel on ANY mya, since the tops are all the same.
Teganv
Alright, wet paper towel it is, and hopefully I can order a thicker gasket soon, and hope that does the trick. Thanks guys.
Chreees
Odd that the opening on yours is THAT big. Every phunnel I've used on any Mya I've owned has fit just fine using the silicone Mya gasket. I too recommend the damp paper towel strip gasket for this situation.

[/quote] Yea its big enough that I can set it over the gasket without the inside of the bowl stem touching it. So there is quite a gap to fill. Chreees
How new is it? The latest phunnels Eric is (slowly) churning out have the new bottom hole, meaning they are designed to (hopefully) fit any hookah. And when I say fit, I mean screw on tightly. I think this video shows what I mean... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-fx3B8T6Co&list=UU5it5IKnNUaxNFx9kPcV94Q&index=1&feature=plcp Older phunnels tend to have TOO small of a bottom hole, IMO. My '09 Mini Phunnel had some difficulty fitting onto KMs, but does fit on my Syrians. Similar case with my '08 Small Phunnel.

I'm not sure wtf I was doing I guess I wasn't jamming it on there enough, but it fits on the mya now. How I managed to make that not work I have no idea. Thanks for suggestions though guys. Chreees
Haha. Yeah, with the new bowls, Eric designed them where it tapers just right so they fit basically any hookah. So it'll sit up higher on a KM, which has a wider bowl port piece, and it'll sit lower (closer to the tray) on a Mya or Syrian, which have a thinner bowl port piece... if that makes sense.
