Marlow
Title says it all. How long have you smoked for? (If it's 6 or more months, have you noticed a change in your health or lungs?)
Chreees
It'll be 3 years exact for me here this month... I first tried hookah at a lounge with friends on my 19th birthday, and immediately went out and purchased my own. I have noticed no change in my health or lungs. In fact, I had asthma when I started smoking and I now do not. I'm not saying hookah caused my asthma to go away; it was naturally going away on its own before I even started smoking. I used to have an albuterol inhaler, along with Advair, Nasonex for constant congestion that I have had for as long as I can remember, and a prescription for Clarinex for common allergies. Now I'm totally off prescription meds and only take over the counter 24-hour allergy medicine (Equate's version of Claritin), and Nasalcrom for my congestion so I can still breathe through both nostrils (replaced the Nasonex). Understand that I do NOT think hookah caused me to get away from prescription meds- I was already outgrowing asthma and whatnot. Hookah just simply did not hinder this natural progression. KasbahBazaar
I've been smoking for about 7 years, more regularly the past 5 years. I haven't noticed much of a difference in lung power or health. I mountain bike often, run at the gym a couple days a week, and go hiking somewhat regularly. I also smoke a pipe a few times a month and maybe 8 cigarettes (single cigarettes, not packs) a month when out drinking with my friends.

bradleyclark86
My first hookah experience was in the spring of 07 at college. I've been smoking ever since. I haven't noticed any lung issues. I walk to a lot of places in town since I live close enough. Any physical shortcomings I have is because I'm fat and don't exercise enough. I, too, have allergies (dust, mold, and the #1 enemy, cats). I haven't noticed any issues caused by hookah. On bad days when I'm extra congested, smoking mint flavor helps. â€On
Pretty much daily since 05. No difference in my health (I'm actually in the best shape of my life right now). I do crossfit 3x a week, snowboard, longboard, bike, etc. and have no problems with any of it.
kenshinx23
To be honest, most people start smoking at a very young age, 18 or so. No one at that point from knew their baseline health conditions. So seeing differences is nearly impossible. I know a bunch of swimmers who can put down a pack a day (cigs) and function just fine. If your question is is hookah bad for you? Then yes, it is. How bad? now thats just relative. I don't drink water out of plastic, yet i smoke hookah, so go figure.
