Shisha Flavors: Not Happy With What I Have Been Smoking

Recommended Posts

You're not happy because you're not smoking good quality hookah tobacco. Try these and you should be happier:

-Tangiers: There are a few different lines. Noir is the original line, packing a heavy buzz for most people who first try it. It also is more finicky with packing and heat management, so it turns off a lot of people that try Tangiers, because they don't always get it on the first bowl. F-Line is the same as Noir, just with caffeine added (some say this gives more a buzz, I couldn't tell any difference from Noir). Lucid is the washed line, so very little buzz (doesn't buzz me at all), and flavors are "cleaner" than Noir or F-Line, meaning they don't have the tobacco undertones. Also the smoke just isn't as "heavy." Then there's Birquq, the new line. It takes qualities from both Noir and Lucid essentially to make a more in-between line. It has the cleaner flavor, like Lucid, but it still packs more of a buzz, like Noir. There's something else about it that just makes fruitier flavors and the such more vibrant (at least in the Now With Melon that I tried, which is basically Melon Blend in Noir and Lucid lines). It is recommended you use all Tangiers lines of tobacco in a legit Tangiers Phunnel bowl, even though you can make it work in standard bowls. Tangiers is made in San Diego, so you know you're supporting an American business by buying it. ;)

-Nakhla: You can never go wrong with Nakhla. It's basically foolproof when it comes to heat management, and the flavors are great. They have many different lines- http://nakhla.com/GroupsData.aspx . I recommend starting with the Mizo line. It's my favorite.

-Al Fakher: Another staple in the hookah industry. A whole array of flavors, you're bound to find some favorites.

Anyway, this is stuff I like, and all I would even consider smoking from now on.

Awesome man, thank you for all the detail as well. I will go up to my local shop tonight and see what they have.

I would very much like to try NAKHLA.

Out of the tops ones you listed which ones have the strongest buzz and biggest clouds.

Thanks in advance.
(I really need to get an avy ha ha)

Tangiers, hands down. You most likely won't find it in your local store, however. I recommend buying it online from 5StarHookah.com or UltimateHookah.com. Nakhla packs a good buzz too, though, and is great in the cloudage department.

Chances are much higher that you will find Nakhla or Al Fakher locally.

For the price of Nakhla you can't go wrong with it, they have been putting out great flavors lately and I think is priced very fair compared to other companies. Tangiers is also in my opinion is the best, tons of great flavors!

I'm a fan of the mizo line and the mix line just about all the flavors in both of them are packed full of flavor, my favorites are mizo raspberry, blueberry, lychee, watermelon and the mix line ice lemon mint, cosmopolitan, flames.

I just went to my local hookah shop (Six Lounge) I think I will be purchasing online. The store was all out of the MIZO brand of the NAL but I still got some of the pear. Still taste great, but I am going to try the over heating melon, I usually use 3 of the coca jamma coals but I will go for 4, is that recommended or not?

They also had some cherry tangeir, but I wanted to smoke right away and wasn't really into the whole waiting for it to dry out and go through the required phases.

I will order some SHISHA from the websites above and see how fast they get here :D

Dont go for overheating nakhla, always go for getting it just right :) Tangiers and Al Fakher will have bigger clouds than nakhla most of the time, but I hear in the US nakhla is dirt cheap so really you cant go wrong by getting more. Try nakhla orange or tangerine :) When you get your tangiers youre gonna have to work out exactly how to pack it right so it smokes well, heat management is also not the simplest with tang, but if you get the hang of it youre golden! Also, do try some Al Fakher!

Yup Tangiers is the best :) No doubt.

As for Nak Mizo... eh... its good but I don't think the flavors are nearly as authentic or rich as the majority of Tangiers flavors. I had the Ice Lemon Mint and the Lychee. Its not that they aren't good, its just that they aren't impressive compared to Tangiers.

I just ordered some MIZO NaK :) I love the taste of it. I am still working the packing of it, something tells me that I am not packing enough into the bowl, the flavor is there for the frist 15 minutes or so and the cloud as well, but I can never get the flavor to stay for the whole session.

Maybe Youtube will help haha

I think you guys are missing out on the fact that something is wrong if the smoke and flavor die out after 20 minutes
That's why I told him to check out my video, to see how full to pack it. ;)

yep I checked it out, when I fully packed it the first few times I was packing it way to close to the holes and it was not hitting smooth, I watched the youtube video and it has helped out a lot! Still learning. Can't wait for my new shisha to come in :)

I have the vortex bowl, it is a pretty nice sized bowl. I was using the the stock MYA bowl before the Vortex bowl though, and it was a lot smaller.

Well, there's your problem. You're using one of the worst bowls ever! Get a tangiers phunnel/crown phunnel and an egyptian bowl and you will be golden!

Is this just out of opinion? I like my Vortex bowl, it works a hell of a lot better than the stock bowl that came with my MYA. I will definitely pick up one of the ones you listed, but my Vortex is working plenty good at the moment.

When I was having issues it was with my stock bowl, but I wonder how could it could be with the Tangiers bowls :)

Thanks bud.

It's a general consensus among people who have been smoking a long time that vortex bowls are one of the worst bowls.

For Tangiers, a Tangiers phunnel (of any size) will give you the best results.

Packing in other bowls require different packing techniques and heat management but the results will vary. Usually this means that the flavor chacteristic will not be as complete and the clouds will be lacking (compared to typical Tangiers clouds in a well packed phunnel). For instance, tonight I pavked Static Starlight in an egyptian head and am using a whole 3k QL. This is the set-up most lounges use. While the bowl is well packed and not harsh I am not getting the flavor and clouds that I get in a Tangiers phunnel.

Egyptian heads are inexpensive and widely available so if finding a Tangiers phunnel is difficult or not in your budget right now, grab and egyptian. You can also use them for all other brands of tobacco... Though once you get your Tangiers method down I doubt you will waste your time with many other nrands ;)
