insidius
So I used to have a Mya Staff, this hookah has the stem that screws into the base. I'm considering buying a Mya Obelisk, which lacks the screw on stem and I'm wondering, for those of you that own both types of stem, what your experiences have been with each. My concern is that I really liked the screw on stem and I'm wondering how the non screw stem will hold up in terms of seal, quality and overall feel. Any thoughts, comments? Thanks! mushrat
Owned and sold both types. I would say you'll have more trouble with the threads wearing on a screw in than you will anything happening with the simple grommet style push in stem. Stuie
What mush said. I would suggest the Obelisk. I love mine. Had it for years now. I would recommend buying one of the thin rubber band grommets. Didn't have to mess with electrical tape any more.

insidius
Is the Obelisk wobby at all, or does the stem fit nice and snug solid into the base?
Stuie
a buddy of mine fit as snug as could be, mine had a little bit of play but it sealed, didn't wobble so much it was of much concern.
Chreees
Mya Sarays are some of the most stable hookahs I've owned. Have no worries, my friend.
mustang67n
Yeah.. shouldn't have any issues with that! Less screw together parts almost always means longer lasting seals and overall a longer lasting pipe in general.
Pavo21
well i like both, i have both. i like the screw ons with the acrylic bases, and i like the gaskets with the other myas, they both work fine for me and i enjoy them all. Mya is a great pipe and great company they last for ever. Also the gaskets dont always fit perfect but a easy fix, and in time they do ware down. but enjoy. hughe3jj
I own a MYA and have the screw in thread, I have not owned it long enough to notice any thing about the threads, but in any case I believe you can replace the stem (I know you can) but the adapter I am not to sure about :/ I think both pieces can be purchased if any damages occur. Any ways, I love my MYA, it smokes great, is holding up very well. Good luck to you!
