Phunnel Bowl With Mod?

im kind of new to the whole hookah thing, ive only been smoking for about 2 months. however i have a vortex and regular bowl. But after reading on this forum awhile and looking online, im curious to try a Phunnel bowl! The only thing is i keep seeing people talk a out it with a mod? what is a phunnel bowl mod? and pictures would be greatly appreciated!

The mods are only really useful if you don't want ot pack a full bowl.

As Mush said, the mod is only really for the purpose of saving on your tobacco usage. If you obtain a small enough bowl, it's not an issue, IMO. However, Tangiers Small Phunnels run bigger these days than they used to back in 2009 and before (Eric of Tangiers says he's going to be making the new ones a bit smaller, so hopefully that's not the case anymore). Pico size Tangiers Phunnels recently became available, which are pretty darn tiny. I don't even think you could use a mod on that size if you wanted to (I don't think anyone would want to). I used to use the mod all the time before I got a Mini size (this is a size Eric releases randomly in group buys, not for retail sale). Now that I have a Mini, I feel it is small enough (perfect, really) that I don't have to use the mod to save on tobaccy. Smalls are a good size, but I always felt like I was wasting tobacco every time I used it. I currently own an older Small that I traded a newer one for a year or two ago, and I still hardly ever use it. If you want to learn more about the ways to save when using Tangiers, there's a part about it in my Tangiers Guide to Success thread (in my sig). Whether you are looking into smoking Tangiers or not, the Tangiers Phunnel bowl is a good bowl to use regardless. I use mine almost all the time for my second favorite brand, Nakhla, as well.

Only other purpose of the mod I feel is that it can intensify the flavor compared to using the Phunnel bowl without one, because you are forcing the air through the tobacco before going down the inner spire. Just my opinion from what I've experienced.

Don't do what I did with my first tealight mod: Take a used tealight holder and attempt to remove the wax and then use it. You will smoke wax and you will feel bad.
