cafedelmar
i sent him an email. all it takes is a new base piece, i'd be happy if he sent me one. if he threw in something free, well then i think i'd be more than happy hahai think the thing that bugs me more than anything is the fact of where its rusting. since its right under the junction, it shows that its rusting because of the poor seal quality, which was evident from day one. if you're going to charge so much for a product (i paid $100US) you should ensure that the little things don't subtract from it.otherwise it's a great product. Smokes well, easy to clean, easy to transport, no other major problems.
ioannisds
I wonder if this is a new problem? I bought my Stargate that I sold to ghostofdavid a while ago, as I did Yashman19 I believe, and we never had any problems with rust or anything like that. Maybe the newer Stargates are being made with inferior materials, and the older ones are more solid?
Scalliwag
Ive read some questions on this thread as to why they would make a product that has this type of problem. my answer: Chinese manufacturers dont give a flying sh1t about if it lasts or performs well. They care about making things cheaply and selling them in vast quantities. When folks find out that the product is inferior... it doesnt matter...by then they are off making something completely different for a whole different industry. Theres no Chinese fathers telling their sons that one day they will be great hookah makers as well..... cause junior will will be stamping out parts for some knock-off of an original invention that has yet to come about. So... long story short (if you read from my book)... if you get a chinese hookah of some "revolutionary design" you are most likely gonna have the problems that go along with "re-inventing the wheel". Chinese manufacturing has had a long track record for not taking the end consumer as serious as they should.
DOH!!!! Silly me! At the price they sell these for I expected better quality. Although problems do sound a little rare. The have one at Cafe' Medi. I am going to look it over really good.

Samir is notorious for pretending the customer is invisible after the product has been paid for/received. Hopefully he'll read this thread and try to make a good impression. HookahDuck
i've complained about this on many occaisons. If this is the only problem your stargate gives you, consider yourself lucky
Sonthert
The stargate knockoffs are $50 wholesale. That ain't much.People, one last time:Chinese workmanship is crap! Thats why I always advocate sticking to Middle-Eastern/US/European stuff. The design is probably perfectly good, but the Chinese workmanship screws it up. Blue Lantern
now i'm glad i didn't buy the stargate. Will his rusting get worse if he continues to get it wet (washing) and then air drying it?

Naval jelly works for removing rust but you have to use it correctly and then seal the metal.

DizzyGuy
Ok... so the Taqseem hose is washable, right? And what's the best way to wash it? It tastes like new hose smell to me and I've rinsed it out a few times :/
ioannisds
I really really hope the Stargate I sold to ghostofdavid holds up. I never had any problems, but I will feel like a dick if his goes to crap.
cafedelmar
I just received an e-mail from Kelly letting me know they will replace the base for me with the new glue-free one. There's now a grommet which works is said to be much better.I must say I am impressed. Taqseem Company has gone up quite a bit in my books and I would no longer hesitate to recommend the Stargate. If this is the case the Stargate is back on my list of hookahs I want. Otherwise I was going to get a used one on the cheap that needed repair.I would not hesitate to buy a MYA because they are already very well known to replace even a questionable part.
