Urloc
Well, the thing is that I use compressed coconut shell coals and it seems most agree it is the best. However, has anyone used actual coconut shells? Here I can just find them very, very cheap. Just asking a guy selling coconuts in the market he will probably hand me over a full sack of them per $1 or so. Is that a chance? I guess the only drawback is that they will burn fast but that is not a problem if you have a sack of them... is this a good idea or not?
mushrat
I'd say not. Getting coconut shell to actually burn might be an issue. Its going to have all sorts of other crap in it that is removes in the process of making something into charcoal you may or may not want to be smoking. So, I'd stick to charcoal. You'll notice we don't use pieces of wood to smoke hookah with.
