Once the quicklight stops "sparkling" it doesnt give a flavor.  3 Kings are the choice for most hookah-bars.
Really? I use em at home because they're easy but out of all 6 lounges I've been to in my general area, if I ever saw them once use anything other than naturals, I'd leave.  I've come to expect a good clean smoke when I go to a lounge and dish out $10 for a smoke session and for them, it's not a big hastle to tend to the coals for you at least once or twice every 45min. Oh, and from what I've read, Japanese Golden Coals by Canary (somethin like that) are the best all around but they don't last more than like 1.25 hours and are pricey. I'll be picking up a couple packs next time I order some shisha.

My coals never seem to last very long, certainly not 1.25 hours! Well, i mean technically they might still be warm by that point, but really for me i get maybe half an hour of decent smoking out of one coal

Yes the 3 Kings are the choice for most hookah bars. If you light the coal and let it sit in the tray part of the hookah while lighting it won't ruin the taste of your shisha. Nor does it ruin it if you light it on top. Just don't smoke it while the coal is lighting and you should be fine.

I love useing 3Kings and do not get any taste from them, I have also tried numerous natural coals, thanx to mush, aslong as you let the 3kings burn off a bit before you put it on the massal, then you should get no taste from it. Just make sure it is true 3kings and not the knock offs you can find that look almost the same.
my friends dont understand the concept of quick light. they'll light them, and then start blowing on them till they turn white, I guess they can't wait the whole 20 seconds it takes for it to happen by itself
I've always done this I feel that blowing on it gets the grey-covering you want faster.
Once, while blowing on a charcoal, it sparked and the spark flew right around my glasses and into my eye.
Oh shit that must have hurt. Those fucking sparklies that light the 3 kings coals are always flying off of the coal violently (no thanks to my super high power butane lighter ) and burning me on my legs/arms/hands. they even burn through my jeans. One instance left my crank very badly stinging
