longlivedoctordenim
So studies say that "that water-pipe smokers had health effects similar to those of deep-inhalation smokers. Coughing, wheezing, and sputum production were all higher among waterpipe smokers than normal smokers, and nearly as high as deep-inhalers." Do you guys believe this or perhaps is this a lie being spread by maybe big tobacco companies in the US? What do you guys think? Stuie
No Offense but any study that comes out of a Country who has a Authoritarian Government (Iran, North Korea, Cambodia... etc.) it loses all credibility.
Chreees
That article neglects to state the fact that hookah tobacco is cooked, whereas cigarette tobacco is burned. Also that you are inhaling vapor in hookah, not smoke like in cigarettes. Obviously biased.
well ive smoked for 5 years had at lease 1 session a day since last year and nothing so far anyone else?
What makes hookah smoking worse than cigarette smoking is the volume of smoke that hookah smokers inhale. People at hookah bars generally smoke for between 20 and 80 minutes, during which they might smoke the equivalent of 100 cigarettes. So even if you only hit the hookah bars infrequently, you’re subjecting your lungs to a lot of smoke, and you’re probably taking in more smoke per puff. According to the study, waterpipe smokers take in between 0.15 to 1 liter of smoke per puff, as opposed to cigarette smokers, who inhale between 0.05 and 0.06 liters per puff. kenshinx23
i wonder why they used the odd number of people, and such a small sample. I emailed the poster or blogger w/e you want to call me him to send the results of the study. I looked through my schools database (you know stuff better then google with paid articles) couldn't find it, maybe because i don't have the year it was done. meh hopefully i get an email back. but yes hookah smoke worse then you then air. the conclusion that article came to is correct. "So it seems the only way to make tobacco safe is to not use it at all."
agunn1231
smoking isnt safe. ive written papers for class about this topic...i always make sure to state that smoking any thing is not safe, but in my opinion, smoking hookah is less harmful than cigartettes. I can say tht i feel much better in the last three months since i completely quit smoking cigarettes, i have been smoking hookah daily since i was about 16. Bawhee
Good thing I smoke hookah and occasionally cigarettes too, I never have to argue with people that its safer than cigs, I just openly say Im a smoker, and honestly, if they dont like it they can piss off. I wont smoke in a non smoking area/house of non smoking people/ in the faces of other people etc. but (and this actually happened to me) if a person (in my case a cranky old lady) comes up to me and tells me that I shouldnt smoke because its gross etc. and starts harassing me ill simply tell them to fuck off. Reason being that hardcore anti-smokers will harass you no matter what your argument is. TL;DR: If you wanna be an unharassed smoker hang out with people who dont judge you for it.
