m00kz
I've smoked it around 6 times so far but whenever I smoke inside I get really bad sickness even if the place is ventilated I get dizzy and stuff and is this normal? I drink a lot of water and eat before it Also in the long run will I be able to tolerate it more after smoking for a long time? Thanks
Arcane
Your tolerance will increase, but the dizziness and feeling nauseated may be due to carbon monoxide poisoning, oxygen deprivation, or plain ol' nicotine. Some tips to help you now are: 1. Ensure coals are fully lit (ashed over completely) 2. Take a few minutes of rest in between pulls 3. Smoke washed tobacco and slowly work your way to unwashed It'll take time, but eventually you'll be able to just enjoy your sessions and embrace the buzz. Chreees
I handle lots and lots of shisha at one time. I like to take it all, put it in a big pile, and just mush it all with my hands. It's so fun. Kinda like how Scrooge McDuck feels swimming in all that money... That's how I feel with all my shisha. Especially my Tangiers Indian Summer I'm stockpiling. Okay, in all seriousnessss, as Jay said, your tolerance will increase over time. I have been smoking for a few years now, and even I can tell between my normal smoking a few times a week and smoking every day of the week. You just gotta adjust to it. And you will. Just give it time. To add to Jay's list, I also like to stay fully hydrated when smoking, so I always have water or something to drink. Never hurts to not smoke on an empty stomach, too. If not a full meal, try to eat a snack. I typically do before or during my smoke.
mustang67n
to add to this.. many people are more sensitive to carbone monoxide than others (individual tollerances) Being that you seem to have the issue more inside, rather than outside, it sounds to me more like CO more than anything (not a doctor, this is just my uneducated opinion). I'd suggest avoiding smoking indoors if that's possible.

Urloc
It would help if you post your setup. What hookah, what coals, what tobacco... It also happened me in the beginning and it seems it was all because of the lame quicklights I was using
I'm Special....not.
Ok one, the buzz is freaking great. u feel lightheaded and it's great.. although the nausea isn't so great.. that happens if u smoke too much or it happens more for beginners since beginners have almost no tolerance. I have been smoking for 7 years now. I almost never get the buzz unless i'm smoking in a Lounge (really great one in texas) or it's my first bowl of the day. I smoke everyday... actually more than once a day.. but that is me... i know.. i'm an addict. and two, yea u will so get used to smoking the hookah, but honestly switch from the instant lites to the Belgium Natural Charcoal --- this is the brand I use. it doesn't change the taste of ur shisha, it doesn't let of that "smell" the quick lites do and they last for a lot longer although they only come in 40 mm You can find them on socialsmoke.com they are well worth the price. better to get the box then just a few rolls... but if ur new to them then get a roll and try it.. I light mine on the stove (mines electric) but if you have any surface that turns RED when heated, use that to light ur coals. these ones also don't need to be fully ashed over the top to start smoking. u can take it off the stove once it's red/ashed halfway up the side of the coal. Well I hoped this helped!
smokingpanda
belgium natural charcoal? i wouldnt restrict your coal selection to just those i would just say stick to natural coconut coals .. any brand .. some are better then others .. but local availability varys .. when im inbetween orders and run out of coals i go pick up a box of af coconut coals .. never changed the taste .. smelled very little . what smell it did have was when it was first lighting and its just a faint campfire smell .. most of them dont smoke when lighting but i have had a few oddballs out of a few boxes that smoked when they were first starting but once fully lit did not smoke or smell
Bawhee
I would not limit to coconut, just make sure theyre NATURAL! also yeah, lighting nats can be a pain, but if you have access to a stove or coil burner or outdoor (camping style) cooking burner youre golden
I'm Special....not.
I've used many types of coals and my favorite ones are the Belgium Naturals. I don't like the coco nara too much because they don't last very long and i have to use two of them to keep my bowl going. (i have a vortex bowl) So, I just keep to my natural charcoals. Coyote
You could always start smoking unfiltered ryo cigs. That should help you get you get used to the nicotine quick.

KasbahBazaar
Then why mention it...
Agreed, has to be up there with the worst advice uttered on the forum. Like Chris and others said, you'll just get used to it. Slow shallow pulls, breaks between puffs, and plenty of fluid. Food before/during is wonderful too and you can often compliment flavors with your food or beverage choices. A friend of mine recently started smoking (well about 6 months ago) and he smoked Tangiers Noir w/ me and was puking within 45 minutes whereas I felt great, lol. So I got him into Tangiers Lucid and Fumari but now he smokes Nakhla, Noir, basically anything he wants without sickness. He was never a smoker of any kind but apparently he was exceptionally sensitive to nicotine because I've never seen people throwing up like he did from smoking.
