ModernDayRev
I'm an average hookah smoker (3-4 times a week) and decided to try to build a simple hookah with easy accessible parts. This is the outcome. Ways to improve? Any help is needed and id greatly appreciate opinions or questions.

ModernDayRev
It smokes better than the other 2 nammors that i have bought. at first i couldn't get a great seal from the saw blade to the top of the jar, once i fixed that it smokes great. adding the glass crown bowl helped it out a lot. smokingpanda
if you have the stuff you should just put a ton of gears on the shaft
dizzbizz
Looks cool. Don't know what advice you were looking for. If it smokes good then thats what matters. You have the general idea of how the hookah works so just toy around with diameters and different dimensions. Make a matching hose and a purge valve for it. mushrat
Going for a Steampunk look?
Skoozle
Looks good. If anyone bumps into it they will lose some blood. Good way to keep people from knocking it over. If you can swing it, put some spinning gears on the hose port, stem and purge (when you get one) and mesh them together so they all spin each other. Check out this thread for a purge cap idea: http://www.hookahforum.com/topic/46756-make-a-purge-cap/
ModernDayRev
i'm unaware of the "steampunk" look. I'm looking for more gears. (I just had these laying around my dad's shop.) The saw blade was the only thing i could find laying around that could stabilize the top on it. Thanks for all the replies and props.
The movie "Wild Wild West" with Will Smith has some good steampunk imagery. Think of what a mad scientist would do with 1800's technology and have a lot of the mechanisms exposed. Throw in more tubing than necessary and some gothic decoration and there you have it. Your hookah is not steampunk. It's too minimalistic. And you don't have the obligitory light bulb filled with green liquid.
