kpyo
Hey guys i recently got a Mya QT not to long ago and i cannot get any flavor out of it. The only thing i can taste is bland as hell and sometimes even taste like the coal. I'm using Romann, tried flavors Melon, Strawberry and Orange with Golden Coals.things i've tried/do:1. clean after every session2. acclimated for 30min, 60min, and 24+hours3. let the coal completely gray over before starting to pull4. 3 halves of coals5. stopped smoking for 4-5 daysFYI, i'm smoking inside in a 24/7 ac'ed environment. What could be the problem? EvansLight
hmm, id say maybe either your heat managment, or maybe the shisha itself. beyond that i cant say. Tangiers the all around expert might be able to help more. Buts hes busy with scrabble...

cityboyyy
maybe your palate just cant pick up the flavors of the tobacco
cafedelmar
find out if it's the tobacco or the pipe. try smoking the same stuff in another pipe, if you get taste, you know it's the pipe. if you don't get any, you know it's the pipe.or, try ordering some shisha and trying a fresh batch. it sounds odd that the pipe would take away your flavour. how does the tobacco smell? Anpu
try not cleaning the pipe out after every use. I find that if I just run a lil hot water through and don't brush it out, the next session will yield more flavor.
kpyo
The tobacco smells like it should: very good.I can't use another pipe as I don't have one but just now I did a thorough clean including the hose. I beat the house for a while and a lot of small particles came out so i'm hoping when i smoke in 2-3 days that this would be the source of the problem. If anyone else has any other suggestions, please let me know. EvansLight
hooked upif your getting a bad taste somethings wrong with the hookah. If not its gotta be in your set up, and heat managment. Or maybe the shisha.
DizzyGuy
Actually, I think he was meaning unhooked, Evans... seeing if the hose had gone bad. Do you have a washable hose? Try NOT washing it out for a few sessions... Once, I cleaned my hookah and hose *vynal* out with lemon juice for the first time and it ruined the session :/
cafedelmar
Try both!Suck through the hose alone, any bad taste? No? Suck through the whole thing hooked up, minus the tobacco and coal. Any bad taste? Try getting a tuna can and putting a bit of tobacco in there, heat it up, take a whiff. What's it smell like now?

kpyo
i'll try this out after my hose gets fully dried out. as for the tuna can thing, dont really have tuna here right now but what i'v done b4 is take the foil off after a good amount of coal has been burned, stired it up and smelled it..smelled just like it should.. Seraph
What type of coal are you using? How large is your bowl? How many coals will you have on at once?It certainly sounds like a heat management problem. Also, are you letting your shisha acclimate to the environment? kpyo
As stated in my 1st Post, i'm using Golden Coals with a ceramic bowl. i usually just use 1 coal but i'ved tried stepping it up to 3 halves and still no flavor. I move the coals around every 5 minutes and keep it touching the edges.as for my shisha acclimate, i tried it for over 48+ hours and still the same thing. Calcartman
Try more heat.As long as your hookah is air-tight, and you're not pulling air in from somewhere else, you should get flavor. It may take a lot more heat than you expect. But it sounds like you have a leak, cause 3 1/2s should be plenty.
kpyo
Calcartma:I just checked everything for leaks, i hooked everything up and put my palm over the bowl and sucked in and nothign was getting through.oh to the person that asked if i tasted anything out of the house, i dont taste anything out of the ordinary... cafedelmar
you'll have to find some more shisha and try that, if you still get no taste take your pipe back to where you bought it from and tell them it's a defective piece
dirtysamurai
i've got the same problem as pyo, but i think my tastebuds are shot. my roommates can taste the flavor just fine, but i'm the only one who gets nothing.i'm buying a large thing of lemon juice and vinegar tomorrow... EvansLight
could just be your taste buds, smoke too much and you start losing the taste. Just hang up th hookah for a week or two.
novicafe
Make sure you pack the tobacco high enough to where it hits the tobacco. All you should need to use is one coal.
