Extra Mint
I got this new coil burner with extra thick coil. It burns very hot and i put it on full power, the coals burn but when i take them off it goes off after a while, turns black and becomes abit flaky. i left it on for 15 mintues and the coals were ashing, when i blew them, it was all red but when i put the coals on my shisha tray, it went all black and lost its heat after a few minutes. Its definatly not the coals, as i used 4 different boxes ( 2 different brico boxes, naras and cocochas) and they all work fine on my stove. here is the picture of my burner. Nerdy
Well, my coal turns black on the side that is touching the foil also, but they don't "die" on me. Also you have them on the burner for 15min?? That seems like overkill to me. I usually do 6-8 minutes on one side and 2-4 on the other side. It could very well be the holes that you are making. Basically not enough air is going over the coals to the bottom and therefor the "die" on you. Try messing with the holes a bit. I also want to say that I don't blow my ash off. I don't take them off the burner just because they are red. I wait until they have completely ashed over and then set them on the bowl. How long do you leave the coals on your ashtray? Try out cocobuzz coals also, they turn black on the foil side but when you flip em the black side glows back, re-heats and what not. Extra Mint
Well its normal, them turning black on the side touching the foil, but these ones are turning black all over and heat goes off. I left them on the ashtray for about 3 minutes,
Nerdy
What kind of tobacco do you use? How do you pack? and in what bowl? It could be possible that the juices are boiling over causing the coal to soak up that moisture and then die out on you. That's very weird that they do that. O_o I usually let my coal sit for a min before they go bowl, but I have even had one die on me while on the ashtray even for a few minutes. Stuie
I go direct from coil to bowl. Sitting on the ash tray puts them out fast. Take more puffs or get a wind cover.
