Got Really Messed Up Last Night From Hookah.

Recommended Posts

So I went to my friends house at 8 last night. We smoked hookah with like 6 other people til around 11:30. Then everyone left except for 3 of us. The other two decided to smoke more but I couldn't because I had a bad headache. So I just fell asleep on his couch, then woke up at 1:30. They were still there when I woke up (lol) so I said bye and left.

I had to walk down the block to get to my house. I made it about 2 houses down and I just collapsed to my knees. I tried to get up again, but I just fell down again and laid there on some driveway. I knew I wouldn't make it so I stumbled back to his house, fell again on his driveway. Then I made it to his front door and rang the doorbell. When they opened it I was laying down in front of their door.

My friend drove me down the block. I was just laying down in my yard because I couldn't get up and balanced. I was nauseus the whole time too. I got in the house finally and laid down on the bathroom floor for about 15 minutes. I had the chills and was really cold (when I shouldn't have been). I was legitimately freaking out.

Now here are some facts, I didn't smoke weed, there wasn't any in the hookah, and I didn't drink. Whatever this was, was directly from the hookah. I had a headache, chills, fatigue, shortness of breath- the whole deal.

Someone just wanna give me some input because this is the first time this has happened to me and I'm kinda weary of doing hookah again next weekend. Edited by ChiTownsDRose

Sounds like you were either hitting the hookah too much resulting in a lack of oxygen, the coals or some other aspect of the hookah was off (poor packing job or a terrible brand of quick light coals, etc.), or you were just dehydrated. Any of those things could result in symptoms like that. Always have a drink handy while smoking, and it's safer (IMO) to not smoke on an empty stomach.

Omg. That is some scary stuff...

But like Chrees said, all those sound like symptoms of hookah sickness. Like he said, stay hydrated at all times. Don't hoover the hose. Make sure the coals are fully lit. Have proper ventilation while smoking. And try to eat something before hand. A lot of people say it makes a difference. I have personally never told a difference by it but better safe then sorry (plus food is always good)

some people are allergic to tobacco.. but from what i understand it's highly uncommon. That sounds like a lot of smoking, so my guess is dehydration like others have mentioned..

keep hydrated, and eat, etc. and take breaks definitely sounds like CO poisoning.

what kind of coals were you using?
