Finally Got A Pico

Recommended Posts

First off love the little Guy love the logevity of the bowl, but have mayby a heat issue.
so nothing wrong in terms of smokeing just not getting normal thunder clouds from tangiers.
Useing two quarter exoticas normal tight pack ,mimon acclimated. Tried more coal (another) no real change other than hotter smoke
(Smoke is good and tastefully as good as normal smoke just lack tangiers thunder clouds

any suggestion?

I get decent clouds, just mess with the heat. I wrote a review of the bowl when i got it.
Every so often the clouds are lacking. It's my goto bowl now though.

i dont have a pico.. but i have two #7s and 2 whole razans on the edges works fine for me.. only lose flavor if the coals are too far in.

I've been very "whaterver" about both my packing and heat management with tangiers lately.. I just take pinches(clumps) and put it in the bowl.. then press it down a little so its just below the rim. (two pinches is good for the #7) and then throw 2 coals on.. i get easily 3-4 hours out of bowls with good flavors and wondrous flavor

With the Pico, I've noticed I almost have to over pack it to get good clouds. I've tried a whole bunch of different things with it. I noticed a dense slightly over pack has yielded the best results with 2 coco flats Stonehenge with windcover. That can be too much heat for birquq though (although I've only tried birquq once with it so far).

Trying packing it in 3 layers against the side of the bowl. This makes it easier to pack it with a fork since most oyster forks are too big to press to the bottom of the bowl.

Layer 1 is pressed to the correct density to the side of the bowl
Layer 2 is pressed against the bottom and Layer 1 to the correct density
Layer 3 is packed from the spire to the top of the bowl to complete the pack.
Once Level 3 is packed make sure its all leveled out. The tobacco should be slightly below the outside rim and a pinch below the inside rim.

As will all the other bowl and Tangiers you will poke LOTS OF BIG HOLES.

WHen I pack my pico i pack it above the rim then press the tobacco down with the foil...works forme and i get good clouds. 3 halves of a coco for AF, 2-3 halves for Nak, 3/4-2 halves of a coco for tangires...i like cutting my coals down smaller...makes me feel like I have more coal than i do lmao

for me I just put one 40mm 3 kings QL on top of the pico (it covers the entire bowl), gives me great clouds and after after 40 mins I add the wind cover and get another 25 mins of good clouds. I do pack it a little bit over the top, but still a small amount of shisha for great clouds and flavors :) Edited by Anxiety

Got my Pico to smoke well using Coconara flats cut in half, then I use 3 halves on the bowl triangulated.

That is exactly what I do on my pico, has not failed since I got my packing technique perfected. Lasts me 2 rounds for fully cashed bowl, typically 2 hours or so of wonderful flavor and awesome smoke. I did notice that kcherry and cocoa I do have to be a bit more attentive to the coals, but its usually a place and only touch to ash coals with most others.

I too finally got one... holy shit this thing is tiny.

And the color is peacock I'm pretty sure, so it matches my Mini! Gonna smoke this tonight and see how it goes.

Is the pico smaller than the mini?
