mushrat
ok, it looks like some variation of a phunnel? Big hole in the center and a trough around the edge.? 1) 1 layer of foil should work fine. 2) more tobacco 3)holes are too bloody big. Goign to be pulling ash all over the tobacco and creating an insulating layer on top of the tobacco. 4) WAY too much charcoal. try 2 pieces around the edges. or even 3 halves. If you do it right it will take a little time for the tobacco and bowl to heat up to vaporizing temp. If you get big smoke first pull when it is just starting to heat up imagine what its going to be like in 5 minutes when the stuff is really cooking. Can you say on fire? You can also say start with 3 to jump start it, then pull one and smoke from there. The heat needs will vary through the life of the bowl.. Stuie
looks like a vortex. Everything Mush said is right. I recommend 3 halves on a vortex. I will add don't keep starbuzz directly in the tin. Put in a baggie then back in the tin. Metal does some crazy things to the shisha when it's being stored.
mustang67n
Exactly what mush said. 1 layer of foil, more tobacco (you can pack it up to the rim, the foil touching isnt a problem), less coal. It's amazing how easy it makes it to help when people post the vids of their packing, etc!! +1 to you for that lol

jacobfrench2003
so i did the three halves, smaller holes, more tobacco, and one sheet of tin foil. Smoked good for like 5 minutes with me moving the coals around a lot :/ then went harsh. I had the coals on about half way. Grrrrrr! Should i wait to start smoking it or can i start smoking right away to get the tobacco going?
joytron
Dont mess with the coals and don't worry if you are not getting clouds right away. Give the bowl some time to get going. Also when they said add more tobacco, you need to add WAY more.
Bawhee
may I recommend 2 pieces of coal on the very edge of the bowl, see if that gets you thin smoke or immediate harshness, move up from there
mushrat
i agree with bawhee, start with 2 add as needed. And remember, if you are getting thick smoke on first few pulls its gonna burn like hell in a few minutes.
ShishaFreak
Try using a pin to make your holes.... More smaller pin sized holes should do the trick, this lets in less heat making the tobacco burn slower at a reduced heat. jus my 2 cents.
jacobfrench2003
Im guessing if the tobacco was a little dried out that would make a difference right? the stuff i have has been in the metal can for like a month now or is that fine

[/quote] Smaller holes doesnt allow heat out of the bowl so it actually makes the bowl burn hotter. Hence why you do a ton of big holes on low heat tobacco like tang. jacobfrench2003
So i did only two coals, smaller holes, more shisha and it never got burnt! on the down side i wasn't getting a lot of smoke, how long before you start getting those big clouds usually?
â€On
I dont usually get HUGE clouds until my second set of coals, but I am getting decent sized clouds usually a few minutes into my first set of coals.
Chreees
When I put the coals on, I usually wait 5 minutes before taking the first pull. Good clouds are usually going after the third pull or so.
Bawhee
Youre gonna start off with smallish clouds but as your bowl heats up they will get bigger, try moving the coals just a tiny bit further inwards, also, I like to start off with two coals and a third one in my coal bucket thing, then when theyve died down a bit (say 1/3 into the session or so) add the third coal in a triangle pattern. Also, the most crucial thing with smoking hookah is experimentation, keep that in mind and dont get too down if you have a couple bad sessions!
