ioannisds
Do any of you guys use any other type of brush to clean out your hookah stems? It seems the nylon hookah brushes I buy every so often are REALLY cheaply made, and the bristles break down after just a couple of uses. I think I have heard of people using gun cleaning brushes, but they seem really small to me. Any ideas for some better quality scrubbers for the stem? nuschultz
Go get a gun cleaning kit from your local walmart or whatever you have near by. I picked one up and it works GREAT. Just make sure you toss the bottle of oil out because you won't need it.
ioannisds
Oh God, please don't make me go into a Wal-Mart. I flippin' hate that place .
Buford
I use aquarium cleaning brushes. They're long and come in various sizes.
ghostofdavid
Hey... save those bottles of gun cleaner/solvent. I'll gladly pay shipping for them.
Lakemonster
For the gun cleaning stuff..... you need the cleaning rod.You need a brass bristled or nylon bristled brush as indicated in one of these sizes:.40 Smith and Wesson BRASS.41 Magnum BRASS.410 shotgun BRASS or MOP .44 Magnum NYLON.45 ACP or Long Colt NYLONI prefer the larger bores in the nylon for everyday cleaning..... but for something that will literally "exfoliate" the inside of the stem.... go for the brass bristled brush.Another thing you can do is go to the Music Shop ( the one that sells instruments) and check out some of the brushes for flutes and woodwinds. Usually need to trim those up a tad.... but they work in a pinch.
