Hookah Flavor

When I smoke hookah I have never actually been able to taste too strong of a flavor. Probably not enough to name the flavor if I didn't know it. I was thinking maybe i should go to a hookah bar and try like a professionally packed one. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or are the flavors just barely there? Like when u are smoking a cigar or something.

when i started smoking i had the same problem. i really didnt know what i was doing. i didnt have a washable hose yet i tried washing it anyways (i had no idea at the time). So i got a new hose and cut my old one open and there was sooooo much rust on the ground. then smoking with my new hose i instantly got lots of flavor.

it can really be dependent on so many things. THe brand, the flavour, your setup, your hookah, your hose, how clean it is, your heat mangement, your packing technique, amount of water you use.Also some people just cant taste things that well.First thing i need to know, what shisha you using, and what hookah.

2 hose Nile hookah from hookah-shisha.com, I use Romman, Havana, Al waha. I have the Cobra Head hoses and they are clean. I used foil last night for the coal and I'm going to continue to do that until it proves me bad, so far it way better than the screen. I used more water last night putting the center tube an inch below the water, I usually only use a half an inch. With Ice cubes. I pack loose and blow through other side. Uhhhh....I move my coals a lot sometimes, sometime i dont move it at all. I've tried a lot of things. My real question is, how potent is the flavor I should be getting? A hint, or should it be like smoking a melon for example?

I know what you are saying moose. Some flavors you really have to struggle to taste anything besides generic fruity sweetness. Usually its a matter of packing technique and brand. Havana, from what i've heard packs a LOT of flavor, so maybe you need to pack your bowls better. how do you pack now?

Like I said just a couple posts above, I've tried a lot of things, and none of the ways i pack it really have made too much of a difference. Using the foil worked pretty well, I thought I could taste it pretty well, but I didn't start paying attention tell I was totally buzzed and kinda nauseated so I wasn't thrilled about trying to taste it.I'm gonna try again tonight. My main question here is with ALLLL of you avid hookah smokers, how flavorful it is SUPPOSED to be? Is it like BOOM!!! THATS APPLE! Or is it more like, hmmmmmmmm, this COULD be apple?

It very well can be like "BOOM!!! THATS APPLE!" but it takes alot of practice. Just stick with it. I found it almost fun to have a challenge of trying to get it perfect, and i still dont think i have it perfect. Just try lots of different things, it might get frustrating but i assure you , you will get it and when you do it will be worth it. If you know somebody that is experienced just ask them. I had nobody to ask and now everybody asks me.

Often I have wondered the same thing. Sometimes you'll stumble upon certain smoking methods and brands that are IN YOUR FACE (EXXXTREME!) flavor-wise. Other times its more like "yeah, i taste it. yeah its nice and sweet, but it could be any "fruit" flavor under the rainbow" TRy Al Amir grape. Try fumari tropical punch. Try Fumari Lemon Mint. Try HH Butterscotch  These are flavors that are very much "BAM" or at least the closest i've come to finding "BAM!" flavors.
