CrewBakka
Hey. New to the forum but have been smoking hookah for about a year now. I just got a new hookah and when I packed it the first time it smoked amazing. Since then it has tasted very coaly and harsh. I have since when out and got Three Kings Coals and a new pack of Shisha. It still doesnt taste the way igt did the first time I smoked with it. What can I do??
MThed4
clean it out, blow out the hose, make sure all your seals are tight.experiment with different hole patterns in your foil, different hole sizes, etc. try putting your hose in the freezer a half hour before you smoke (dont freeze your lips to the metal tip of it though, that sucks)
CrewBakka
I cleaned it out very good today before I smokked. Still didn't make a difference. Should I let the coals sit until they are gray all around??
joetuo
For sure crew, especially with the quicklights. Make sure its done sparking and wait about a min or two so it's mostly ashed over.
CrewBakka
If that doesn't work should i bring the hookah back?
EvansLight
first, make sure its done sparking. Blow on it a bit. The chemical that makes it quick light smells and tastes horrible. Also, if its getting harsh, then its your heat mangament. Just need to know a few things, like are you using screens or foil, how many coals you using, what hookah do you have? CrewBakka
I am using one of the smaller of the Three Kings Coals. I use one coal and I use heavy duty tin foil and fold the piece in half to make it thincker. I am using Nhkala or whatever it is for shisha
Skimo
you double your foil over and it gets harsh? lol thats usually to thick for me, im not sure but try just using one layer and break the coal into half and place em opposite eachother
CrewBakka
I have tried everything....The only thing I haven't done is let the coal sot for a few minutes before placing it on the bowl. Should the foil touch the Shisha or should it be lower than the bottom of the bowl? Maybe if i just put more shisha in will it help? I am just getting so frustrated.. Skimo
yeah i heard that makes the bowl better, also maybe you should try getting a tangiers bowl, the juice from the shisha will stay in the bowl so you should get a really flavorful smoke, maybe try some milk in the base to
MThed4
the problem with the milk in the bowl is for the first few mins, the milk will bubble up into your hose.its gross. so be careful
Skimo
lol i wish my hookah would have never broke, i can only smoke when my friend wants to, but when i get another 1 im deff gonna try the milk, maybe use a little less that you would with water
CrewBakka
I just got some orange shisha. Someone said to put orange juice in the bottom for better taste... Any ideas??
web250
Try regular duty foil (not heavy)...and maybe 1.5 or two coals.
Lukasa
Don't double your foil up. I don't know why it doesnt work well, maybe heat getting trapped between layers and getting the shisha too hot?? use a single layer of foil. see if that helps. NorthEastSmoker
I've had the same harsh taste and no flavor issues using doubled-up tin foil... I switched back to single layer thin foil, with 12 or 15 good sized holes in the middle of it and my problems disappeared..

CrewBakka
I'll give the single layer a shot. Also, I want to invest in a good hookah. Any good places to get one from, and what kind? (egyptian? chineese?)

jtemes
QT's are sweet. Personally, even though i own one, I prefer a traditional looking hookah. They're often pricier and a little harder to find. If you want a good sized hookah try the Glyph found at hookah-shisha.com.
CrewBakka
So a multiple hose hookah?

CrewBakka
Is there anything wrong with a multiple hose hookah? On Hookah shisha.com are they all the mini hookahs a mya qt or not? Also, how can I tell if the hose I have no is able to be cleaned?

Less to keep up with, in my opinion. Unless you always have groups smoking, in which case, multiple hose is a good idea. Go buy some 3/8 inch inner diameter vinyl tubing this is the best hose for the money. 5 bucks for 10 feet of it. completely washable, no flavors get stuck. CrewBakka
Ya there is usually at least two of us and sometimes a solid 3. I was thinking of a the three hose snake. What is the best brand of shisha? Al Amir? And are the wood coals the best? Sorry to be a pain. I am just sick of the crap taste. I want to get all the best equip.
