Bawhee
Thats not a real solution... by 2 coals you mean you have 2 coals on or thats the combined duration of two coals? also what kind of coals? what kind of bowl? It sounds to me like youve got a bit too much heat on, not so much that you would burn the tobacco but rather than heating your tobacco nice and slow you kinda waste it, know what I mean? try rotating coals or different coal placement maybe?

â€On
Gotta agree with Bawhee and Joytron on this one, definitely sounds like too much heat. What bowl and what tobacco? Coal brand and how many coals are you using? You might also want to snap some pictures of the bowl setup and smoking for us, it helps a lot. You may need to adjust how you poke holes in the foil, and you may need a thicker foil (or multiple layers). Most of us like Reynolds HD or Alcan HD foil, as they are a bit thicker, but a couple layers of thin foil works the same.
r1v3th3ad
Yes do elaborate on bowl type, type of coals, type of foil, and how you poke your holes
RKbizzle
thanks for the help but its only one king ql on the stock mya qt bowl
Bawhee
well, definitely switch to natural coals as soon as possible... also with qls always place it way on the edge of the bowl, as far on the side as you can without it falling, then for the second coal on the other side than before and so on. Another thing is your packing, foil, hole poking, feel free to elaborate on that

ezxen
Pack you AF lighter and not so close to the rim and half your coal that might help. Some AF flavors just burn for me no matter what i do tho.

RazzyBerry
Sounds like your burning too hot, and not rotating enough. It's actually one of the most common bowl mistakes that we make. Here, read this and it'll show you how to smoke like a pro..You need to work on steps 1,7, and 9. Chreees
*sigh* Razzy... There's a reason why the word filter changed the link. Please do not try to circumvent the word filter. Thanks. funkman262
Something that worked for me when I used to smoke AF in my vortex was covering the bowl with 2 sheets of regular foil (or 1 sheet of HD) and putting a metal screen cover over that. I would put it on upside down so it actually raises off the bowl. This would keep the tobacco at a lower temperature and prevent it from burning. Now I smoke nak instead of AF so I don't use the screen cover anymore. The great thing about nak is it's really forgiving and difficult to mess up. ih303
Here's an idea. Get an alien. Pack it about 1/4" over the top. Poke the holes right between the center and the edge. Enjoy smoking ALL your baccy.
ih303
So, I came back and read my post and realized it was not helpful. So much for forum surfing drunk My first piece of advice, take your standard Mya bowl, and throw it in the trash. Honestly, those are the most worthless bowls in existence. There are many replacement bowls to choose from - the point here is to get any OTHER bowl besides what you have. Keep in mind that your bowl is the most important part of your hookah. If the bowl fails, everything fails. However, if you still need or want (heaven forbid) to smoke out of your Mya bowl, I can offer this advice: Pack your baccy lose - AF is notoriously juicy so if it's tight, you'll get no airflow. Once you have your bowl packed, covered, and poked, hold your bowl in your dominant hand by the small end (where it connects to the hookah stem), and smack the edge of the head of the bowl against your other hand. Rotate bowl a few degrees and repeat. Do this all the way around. What this does is pull the tobacco off the bottom of the bowl (where the holes are) and towards the top against the foil. Just watch out for syrup burn (if there's a little juice coming out of the holes, gently wipe clean before placing coals.) Follow the other guys' instructions for heat management and you should be good. Hope this was a tad more helpful than my last post. Let me know how it goes.
