nargilah
Hi all, Yesterday me and my buddies tried to make some homemade shisha this is what we did:Put some tobbaco in a pan with raspberry italian soda syrup. then we added some corn syrup and cooked it together until the liquid boiled off.The only thing we're worried about is the splenda sweetner in the italian soda syrup. does anyone know if it is ok to smoke this?It looks like real shisha. I'll let u know how it smokes. Thanks

xpimpitox
yea me and my buddy tried the other day and it was horrible...we got mild mollasses, some strawberry syrup from a international market, and some syrian dried tobacco leaves. wet the leaves, mixed in the molasses and syrup, drop it in the micro for a lil bit, mix it up and let it sit. we were just making it up as we went along and yea my buddy tried lets just say he almost threw up lol. extensive research for the next batch will def. be in place. ghostofdavid
Gross! Don't use corn syrup.
MrGuy
i think for flavourings most companies use (suprise suprise) flavourings, as in the prepared flavourings. and the glycerin gives it sweetness and i think its probably what makes a lot of the smoke maybe? nargilah
do real shisha makers use real fruit for flavoring?
Bleeding_Heart1
no probably not. Im sure they used to back in the day, but now im sure its mainly flavorings.
Sonthert
The flavoring industry has existed for over 150 years! Real fruit is more expensive and more inconsistent. Some brands do use it, but they are $150+/Kg.Corn Syrup is used by most manufacturers now, instead of actual molasses. Glycerine is what creates the illusion of smoke. That white stuff is actually vaporized glycerine.
nuschultz
So how much actual smoke are we getting?

Sonthert
Nuschultz: How long does it take to burn a wet log? Until the liquid is vaporized, the plant material won't burn. GOD: No.
