cafedelmar
So I've been thinking about opening a hookah lounge as right now in Canada there aren't very many, and the ones that do exist are full even though they are crap. I'm not necessarily looking for values (although they would help), but what types of start up costs would you be looking at when starting up a business of this nature?A retail outletDecorPoint of sale systemFurniturePipes and molassesStaffWhat else would you need to take into account? Also what sorts of legal aspects do you have to look into? Obviously the anti-smoking laws and what not, but what else?

imonlyapuppet
I would also like to get some more information on this.As far as legal aspects, if you plan on showing movies or playing music there are licenses and permits that you need to get if you're playing that stuff and charging a fee for it
GuyWithTheGun
Charging a fee to listen to the music or play the movies? Or just charging a fee to enter/drink/smoke etc? Come to think of it, I'm in America, so it probably doesn't apply to me.
DizzyGuy
Puppet is in America as well. I'm pretty sure playing music won't cause any problems, don't know the legalities of movies though.
cafedelmar
I think you're okay for music as long as you purchase it. But what about startup costs? Anything?
