speel
Well ive never used a screen because I stuck to the traditional way and used foil so today i said hmm lets try the screen. Now that I used it I think i'm gonna use it again my smoke is about 3x thicker. So if some one here hasn't testing out their screen I think now you should
GenuineHookahs
why do screens cause thicker smoke?
speel
Well my guess is the holes are bigger.
arik
bigger holes = thicker smoke + tobbaco burns faster
ioannisds
I have never gotten thicker smoke using a screen. To me, it should be thinner if anything else. More fresh air equals less smoke. I have always been most successful with foil.
Bleeding_Heart1
well i used to use them, then i went back to foil and i like it much better. Like everything, its all about the heat managemant.
Sonthert
Hmmm. I don't know. I'll think about it.
ZAP
Hmmm...Well what's stopping you from poking larger holes in foil?

MrGuy
use a fatter hole puncher, e.g. a pencil or something.I've never used a screen but there seems to be mixed views, you either love it or hate it.
mushrat
I've also realized I have 2 different screens of 2 different thicknesses..so the heat management is different depending on which SCREEN I use! But I'll still take a screen over foil..i just have to chuckle when people refer to using foil as "traditional".
Sonthert
No, using neither is traditional.
GenuineHookahs
The "traditional" method is just placing the coals on top of the tobacco I think
mushrat
Exactly.
speel
Really? has any one here ever done that?
GenuineHookahs
You will find people in the middle east who still do it, but a lot of them end up dying from cancer. You could try it once just to see how it is. The tobacco gets kicked a lot faster and it hits much harder too
xpimpitox
yea i tried it, im stickin to foil. it was too harsh.

jtemes
can anybody recomend a screen which works better than others?
digitalhifi
Both my screens got rusty within two weeks. Maybe I shouldn't use screens when smoking on the beach? I only use foil now though.
SanguineSolitude
i keep a couple screens for when im out of foil. but foil is easier and smokes just as well for me, and i like the ritual of packing the bowl, wrapping the head, and poking the holes.
