Sonthert
Inside Man was really good, too, and I don't like Spike Lee all that much. Is the Squid and The Whale really any good?Shock Treatment just came out on DVD! The sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show (From 1981). First time out on DVD.
Depends on your taste in movies, I suppose. My answer is purely subjective. The film raised a lot of interesting points on the perception of "intellectuals" by pseudo-intellectuals and those who just exist. As a writer, I saw it as a warning not to get too snooty and to appreciate things for more than just their "merit" as deemed by some old man in a library with his books and degrees. As a movie, it's interesting. Gives a lot of perspective on the effects of divorce on a family unit. The kids are also waaaay fucked up. Anyways, I'd recommend it. Guess you'll have to find out by watching. Broken
Boondock Saints is a really great movie. I enjoyed watching as they pieced together the crime scenes. My favorite movies are Guy Richie movies. I don't know if you are familiar with his movies like Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels but they are just dripping with style. They are kind of the quintessential European gangster films. Another director I really like is Stanley Kubrick. If you haven't seen A Clockwork Orange or 2001: A Space Odyssey your really missing out. They make very interesting statements about society and human nature that are still as relevant today as they were in the late 60's early 70's. Kubrick really is a master of vivid imagery as well so these movies are a treat each and every time I watch them.

I just watched Snatch yesterday. I'm not sure which I like better, Snatch or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Recently I saw Coffee and Cigarettes. It made me wonder what kind of movie it would be if it was called "Coffee and Hookahs". (probably waaay better  ) It's hard to say what my FAVORITE movie is... I really like Ocean's 11 (the new one. I haven't seen the original), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Waking Life, Office Space, Pulp Fiction, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Claytron
Late to the party on this one... I didn't care for "The Squid and The Whale" - the acting was quality - but the story just meanders and ends nowhere. I got what it was saying, but the story just didn't work for me, and the message wasn't exactly brilliant.
Another director I really like is Stanley Kubrick. Theater: Little Miss Sunshine 8/10 I just saw The Illusionist on Saturday. 8-9/10 - Really great movie. DVD: Sin City - 10/10 - I fucking loved this movie. I wish I saw it in theaters. Samurai Fiction - 9/10 - Brilliant modern samurai film. Really worth checking out. Carnival - ?/10 - The HBO series, I really enjoyed the first couple episodes I've rented, and I'm anxious to see more. Witholding rating for now. THX 1138 - 7-8/10 - Really interesting movie. It was nice to see that George Lucas was capable of making a more mature movie with high cinematic quality. Neon Genesis Evangellion - 9/10 - Great anime series. I'd not seen the entire series, so I'm in the process of rewatching all of it. Ran - 9/10 - Awesome movie. Kurosawa is the shit. War Games - 6/10 - Fun movie. Classic. Immortal - 8/10 Great CG/live action hybrid film from France. English dialog. Very cool story. Egyptian/scifi awesomeness. The Thirteenth Floor - 7/10 - Interesting dramatic movie pre-Matrix with similar themes. Aeon Flux - 8/10 - Great adaptation of the original. Great action, involving plot. Blue Planet - 10/10 - A brilliant set of documentries about life in the ocean with obligatory Attenborough voiceover. Johnny Mnemonic - 7/10 - It's a tad cheesey, but I love 80/90's sci-fi futures. Ice-T, Keanu Reeves, and a Cybernetic Dolphin? Can you go wrong? This is what the internet SHOULD look like. BASEketball - 6/10 - Silly but entertaining if you enjoy Trey Parker and Matt Stone as I most certainly do. Akira Kurosawa's DREAMS - 9/10 - Brilliant imagery. Multiple short films based on supposed actual dreams of the master director. Kinda on the rarish side, but worth looking for. Gankutsuou - 10/10 - BRILLIANT anime series based on 'The Count of Monte Christo'. Futurama - First Seaon - 10/10 - One of the best written shows of all time - tragic and hilarious at the same time. Hard to pull off. There are probably others I've forgotten. That takes me back a few months.
karahoyt
My favorite would have to be 'Fight Club'. I can watch that movie anytime, and never get bored of it, I actually catch some new stuff the more I watch it.As for the last movie that I watched, it was 'Meet Joe Black' (or 'Meeting Joe Black'), I think that is what it was, and I watched it on Sunday with friends while doing hookah. I liked it, but the title is slipping my mind, sorry.
