dirtysamurai
is there a difference between sweet melon and melon? or are they one in the same.
MilqueToast
Nakhla sweet melon, grape, and orange are really good. Mango isn't terrible, but there are better brands for that flavour.
benny
Hey Yall,Was wondering a few things:a) is there any way to tell if your package of nakhla sweet melon is old / young. The 250g box i bought last time was really dried out and was never really good compared to the fresh stuff i was getting in israel.Second, is the Al Fakher brand of melon as good as the nakhla. And i particularly enjoy the smooth thick smoke from nakhla with the added buzz :)benny
PersianPride
Because of its very basic taste structure, essentially just sweetness, I like to pour a little honey on Nakhla melon half way through the session. Really delays the bell curve effect.
benny
do u use a screen or something? how do you 'pour' honey on the melon half way thru?????I found that with melon, there's alot more to the flavour then just sweetness. I think it actually tastes REALLY melony! *dreams of a bowl of fresh nakhla sweet melon*
PersianPride
I just quickly but the charcoals on the tray peel back the foil add a few drops of honey, maybe mix it a little and then reseal with the foil. Also you are right there is that wonderful melon like taste but I find after the first half hour that taste fades into sweetness which is definately complimented by some honey. mushrat
I too, think melon (sweet melon) Nakhla is one of their best flavours.Far better than their regular orange is the new Mandarin, if you can get that, I highly suggest it, you'll never smoke regular orange again. As to the AF melon, there is really no comparison. The Af is SUPER SWEET and melony. The stuff is blood red and even the bloody smoke is pink. Early on it was one of my favorite flvours of all time, Now I seem to be getting more into the sweet, but less overly sweet brands. But compared to Nakhla....i highly reccomend the AF. You can still get plenty of smoke and a fair buzz....
benny
Hrmmm.. Nakhla sweet melon holds a bit of a sentimental spot in my heart coz i smoked that stuff daily in israel when i could find it. Im hard pressed to choose AF over nakhla coz on the whole , af has strong flavours but the smoke is disapointing. The nakhla altho not lasting as long, was for me a more rewarding smoke on the whole. In any case arent 'sweet melons' either rockmelon (orange) or honey dew melon (green)? What melon would cause the AF shisha to be blood red? PersianPride
Nakhla melon is the only shisha I find I get cravings for. All this talk about it just made me break my 'no smoking alone' policy. It was pretty good but unfortunately now I no longer have any melon tobacco. @ BennyI just throughout the box but I am pretty sure rockmelon and sweet melon are the same thing. Which begs the question what do they call a honey dew melon.
mushrat
If you are getting disappointing smoke out of AF it means to need to adjust your heat....You can get clouds out of any tobacco with the right heat, which varies from brand to brand considerably. benny
@ MushratI presume its not hot enough then for my AF? Would splittin one of my jap coals in half and puttin halves on either side make it better?Bigger holes? 2 Jap coals?@ PersianPride, where are you dude you aint online? I was lookin forward to showing you my extensive Farsi vocabulary.

mushrat
Benny: hmmm a coal and a half perhaps. A lot of people use 3 halves when using the 3 kings and such for proper heat on a lot of brands. If 3 halves dont work, then add the other half...build it up slowly....Atleast Thats what I do with new brands til i get the heat right, though I use finger coals, snark with a smaller piece, and more smaller pieces til i get it right, then next time use a piece or two of equal total size. That make sense?
mushrat
May be different boxes for different markets. You may be getting the domestic stuff and the rest of us the export? You actually in Australia?

benny
its just odd, in israel it never came in the brown weird lookin pack. Always green. Never had a lousy package in israel, and this brown one i got in sydney was dry and inferior from the moment of purchase.Im thinkin i should try AF if i cant find the legit, green boxed Nakhla. dirtysamurai
i purchased the green package from a local shop and it just said "el nakhla melon," not sweet melon like that picture.
The Dude Abides
Every time I've tried Nakhla's melon I've had the unfortunate luck of being in shisha cafes with hoses and pipes that are entirely coated with stale dapple anise, thus obscuring the flavor. I know AF's melon would still have been pronounced in such circumstances, however. God love it.
Sonthert
Just different packaging. Compare the UPC bar code numbers. I'll bet they are the same. I see the one, but what's the other?
