cymptom
I don't know about that brand -- the typically recommended Japanese coals are the Canary Goldens found at hookahcompany.com.
EvansLight
soapy? had you recently cleaned your hookah?
skiracerj1
I've used those coals, and I have had a latex like taste to them, but ive found the if you take your tongs and scrape of the top layer of whatever is on them before you put it on the hookah (but after you heat them) that it gets rid of 99% of the weird taste to them. I still have to agree though that the golden japanese coals at hookahcompany are much better though, but the easy lites arent bad
Sonthert
I actually don't thik those are really Japanese coals. Companies think they can add a silver paint to a bar of charcoal and nobody knows the difference. I think those are awful, no offense to anybody, I hate them worse because they are obviously made in China but claim to be made in Japan.
DizzyGuy
Great. I bought crappy coals... I wonder if they are still usable even though they are japanese knockoffs...
benny
it was the coal for surecoz same bowl of shisha with my star coals tasted fine
lilotaku
yeah,I've run into some imitation japanese coals before and they have had an odd aftertaste and odor. The only japanese coals i use are Abu Hithams and Golden Canary's.
skiracerj1
just to clear up my previous post, i agree these are not anything close to real japanese coals, but they are not completely useless, they are a little more tempremental, but the are cheeper and more available, which can be an important factor for some, personally id rather pay 6 dollars a box for these from my local shop than 20 (including shipping) for the goldens. I still get the goldens for my tangiers though, but for anything else its the knock offs
dirtysamurai
i use the golden canary coals. theyre awesome.real genuine japanese golden canary coals.
DizzyGuy
yeah, they aren't exactly everywhere... so when randomly trying a new box of coals, it's easier to just add one to your cart instead of paying seperate shipping
lilotaku
The best japanese coals have to be Abu Hithams, but nobody has them in stock right now . I'm running low myself...shouldn't have sold them all!!!

DizzyGuy
Oh... your box isn't the one listed ^^^ Up there... you only have 54 instead of 96... I'm guessing it's like the 40mm as opposed to the 33 mm of 3K QLs. Here's mine
Tessai
The goldens (Canary) are worth the money for the hour or so you smoke hookah.Every time you smoke the imitation japanese stuff you have to constantly remind yourself of how much money you saved on not smoking the Goldens. .02$
