Chreees
I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working properly for you besides the fact that #7 bowls were made in error, meaning Eric was shooting for Picos, but they came out too big. This means they may not have the proper dimensions as well (not sure). Perhaps you just haven't perfected your heat management on it compared to the Pico? (I know that would be odd, especially since the #7 is bigger and typically heat management is easier the bigger the bowl, but hey, I guess it's possible...) Do your spires differ between the two bowls? Perhaps set up both bowls side by side if you can, doing everything exactly the same, down to flavor packed, how it's packed, hole pattern, coals used. Maybe you can narrow down what the issue might be.
r1v3th3ad
Its the center spire...you need to sand it down because its too high. i did that but not quite sanded down enough so i poke a hole there and its fine...what happens is the foil suctions to the spire

Didn't a lot of people report that they had to sand down the spire on theirs?
mustang67n
I dont have any issues with mine, but maybe my spires were lower already? idk.. that's probably what it is though, what pat said
king_lunchb0x
i bought my 7icoo secondhand, but the spire was pretty tall, i sanded it down just a little bit. I get just as good smoke and flavor as my 8ico or Crown miro phunnel. usually 3 halves on the bowl, maybe take one off and on every now and again.maybe just a bad pack? mustang67n
oh.. that would help too, I use two full razan's hanging off the edges. and i pack tangiers to the rim of the bowl semitight
Twitchy
the spire isnt as wide open as pico, and it was high i sanded it down abit still higher then pico but i use a paper clip to keep foil from coming down.. guess ill have to play around just makes no sense that i can get the pico to work WAY easier
ChicagoRSX
Sure seems like several people are having issues with the 7ico and Pico's getting a good session out of them.

Coyote
all 7s are different... its their nature. It depends what mutation yours has that effects how it smokes. If you have a smaller spire you might be building up more heat due to the extra foil coverage, there may be less heat dissipated during idle (non-smoking) time. Alternately you may find that with less air being able to pull over the coals during active (smoking) time the coals are not heating up as much. Also the dimension of the bowl... the thickness, depth, width, etc may all be different and can play a significant role in the quality of vapor produced. â€On
I would just like to put a PSA here that any Tangiers bowl that isn't exactly how you want it can be fixed with about 5 minutes and a Dremel. I widened the opening of the spire on a few of mine and lowered the spire by about 1mm on another. If, when the bowl is set up, you inhale and the foil sucks down onto the spire, it's too high. As with any company, Tangiers is not immune to variations in their product. I think something people are overlooking is that the smaller you go with a product, the harder it is to maintain the dimensions you want consistently. EDIT: I assume no responsibility if you don't know how to use a Dremel and ruin your shit.
