mattarios2
As requested, just took some pics of the canary I got. The etchings are unbelievable and pics don't do it justice. There are even etchings on the sides of the stem that is normally sanded down in between where the birds are. They twist that ball sideways so the etchings are between the birds, pretty good idea. The stem alone weighs 7.5 pounds. The tray is 3 ounces heavier, quite a bit thicker, and much deeper etchings than the Elmas trays that come with the smaller pipes. The Kafesli will definitely get more use. Despite the Kafesli's height, I would rather deal with a few extra inches over 3-4 pounds in additional weight when cleaning the thing. Any preference? mattarios2
And as you can see by the pic the tray is waay nicer than the standard one on the smaller elmas pipes

mattarios2
Yeah, they really are amazing. I didn't even want the canary until a buddy of mine decided to sell his that he only used like 3 times and said it was too heavy for him to use daily. Once I saw it I was like HOLY SHIT. And snagged it up! I can't get over how nice the etchings are. The kafesli has the same etchings but there are just way more etchings on the canary since the Kafesli utilizes the caging design. KasbahBazaar
Very nice, John. You have one hell of a collection! I figure you might be the one to ask, do you know of anyone who has bought a 637? I would like to see some better pictures of one before pulling the trigger. mattarios2
I haven't seen the exact pipe, but I can tell you what each piece will look like since all of the elmas' I own have a piece of what that entire pipe is made of. The oval will either have a flower design on it with leaves around it, or it will have squiggles in it like what you see in the ball on the canary in between the birds. The heart appears to be smooth just like the 622 or 624. The double ridge thing on the bottom will be the same as the canary and then the middle piece appears to be identical to the paptya. Seems as though the 637 is the paptya without the lotus tray and without the pear which is replaced by the oval ball instead.

I was hoping the heart had the etchings on it, I guess that's another difference between this and the Papatya. I like the oval shape more than the Papatya pear but the fact that the Papatya has the nicely etched chamber and that badass tray has me leaning its way now. For me right now the running is fierce between the Kanaryali, Papatya, and 637. I also found an Eagle figured stem that is made by a different Turkish manufacturer that is amazing and tempting, just have to work to see if I can get my hands on one. The Elmas Eagle stem is a little too Reich-y for my tastes, but this other stem I found is quite graceful. In fact, I'm thinking of trying to get a handful of stems from this other manufacturer to check the quality. The pricing is good but I'll have to see what they cost to get stateside and if they hold up against the (limited) competition.

â€On
Sexy! I like it a lot more than I thought I would, and the etchings are definitely much more in line with the Papatya than the lower models.
