Can I fix this with solder like a sweating a pipe or am I better off filling the crack from inside the stem base with JB weld, expoxy putty or fiberglass resin.Fortunately it's not my only hooka! Thanks all for any good advice.

I've used tape and solder to fix leaks, it all depends on how much work you want to put into it, where the leak is and how much you're willing to sacrifice the appearance of the hookah. I had one small leak that I fixed by wetting toilet paper and pushing it into the crack with a small pin. It dried up inside and hasn't leaked since. Sort of a paper mache kinda thing.

Thanks for responding. The link you posted doesn't work. It's a really tiny gap, but wide enough to compromise the vacuum. I know soldering would be strongest, but it's tricky. I think expoxy putty would be strong and not show very much at all.

use JB Weld and force it into the crack and get off all excess. Wipe any residue with a cloth or Q-tips and alcohol. The JB Weld will barely be noticable if done right. That is the easiest and cheapest way I know. If the crack is not a high stress area you may use an epoxy that has a needle like applicator. Less mess.
