azcoyote
http://a.im.craigslist.org/1H/h0/t38CY4xXf...VFCVgQookvF.jpgI bought this six hose egyptian rotatating base hooka and now notice one of the hose port welds is cracking open. Can I fix this with solder like a sweating a pipe or am I better off filling the crack from inside the stem base with JB weld, expoxy putty or fiberglass resin.Fortunately it's not my only hooka! Thanks all for any good advice. mushrat
How pretty does it have to be?I'd go with something like this:http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail....artnumber=8267Sor the like.
cymptom
I've used tape and solder to fix leaks, it all depends on how much work you want to put into it, where the leak is and how much you're willing to sacrifice the appearance of the hookah. I had one small leak that I fixed by wetting toilet paper and pushing it into the crack with a small pin. It dried up inside and hasn't leaked since. Sort of a paper mache kinda thing. NorthEastSmoker
JB Weld all the way.. Yes, it dries dull gray and isn't pretty, but it's probably as strong, if not stronger, than the original weld..
azcoyote
Thanks for responding. The link you posted doesn't work. It's a really tiny gap, but wide enough to compromise the vacuum. I know soldering would be strongest, but it's tricky. I think expoxy putty would be strong and not show very much at all.
nuschultz
Consider the JB Weld. I have a hookah that is almost completely held together by JB Weld. The hookah is air tight.
azcoyote
Eveyone here so far says JB, so I'll go with that. I have some silver paint I can touch up the repair making it almost invisible. Thanks!
mushrat
Get the stick of stuff that looks like clay in a long grey roll..you break off a piece the size you need, knead it a while and form it...it sets up in minutes and you can use it to repair engine blocks. Scalliwag
use JB Weld and force it into the crack and get off all excess. Wipe any residue with a cloth or Q-tips and alcohol. The JB Weld will barely be noticable if done right. That is the easiest and cheapest way I know. If the crack is not a high stress area you may use an epoxy that has a needle like applicator. Less mess.

Scalliwag
That would cost a metric shitload though. The one I make is going to be clear. All I need is a glass bowl.
