Elder Chris's Sneak Peak

Recommended Posts

Just got back from yet another long trip to Lebanon, and though I'm sick as a dog, I present you this

Yes, it's the argile I've been looking for for nearly 2 years, that is not sold in shops. And it survived the 6,000 mile journey home! Better pics and smoke report when I get better.

I just need to find some glass that suits it. The one pictured is the one that model gets used with at the restaurant it came from, and it's heavy crystal, but it's dinky as all hell, especially when used with what's by far the tallest stem I now have. Kind of want a trumpet to go with it, but these two go so well together:

Maybe get a Kasbawi Bohemi?

is that what the kasbah bohos are being called.. BJ's?

I really like that second setup, Chris!

That is the manufacturer. BJ Glassworks

No, they're called BJs because you have to give a BJ to be able to get one...

Totally worth it, too.

And on a few different bases:

Trumpet

Original

Extra Turkish glass

The original base is allegedly crystal. It's only 10" tall and quite slender but weighs 2lbs 10 oz, which is HEAVY. Omar (Kasbah) said it's probably crystal blown into a mold rather than hand cut, and he might be right. It's just too small for a pipe this big - from the top of the bowl port to the nut of the downstem it's just a bit less than 36", and it weighs nearly 3 pounds. Not sure if I wanna go for trumpet or bell shaped glass....I like the look of the trumpet, but I can't buy any that I like online, and that one looks really good on the stainless swirl stem as pictured in a previous post....

Seeing it on that trumpet, I just don't like it any other way. :( I know how much you like the trumpet on the shank it's already on...

Mind taking some detailed pics of the shank and of the inside of the tray? Fancy looking tray it looks like from the pics so far...

The first two pics of post 11 show about as much detail as there is

Your gonna want something wide and holds a lot of water that baby is tall...

Might look cool on one of these

Matterios has one I think.

Yeah, definitely need a big base. That one you linked is only 10" tall. It's gonna be either a trumpet or a BJ Boho or one of those extra chunky Turkish crystal ones, I think. Given how sleek and straight it is, the trumpet is aesthetically the best fit, but I'll probably have to wait till my next trip out there to pick one up, and that'll be probably in 3-5 months.

On the site it says "battal" which basically means jumbo, or XL - which on Turkish glass usually means about 14"+
This makes me want one even more.
