fuckthatvincekid
I'm writing a guide for a COMPLETE AND DETAILED (hopefully unbiased) guide to hookah. What I need help with is a few things - First and foremost, I'm describing shisha brands. After the description, I'm putting clouds (with a rating out of 5) and buzz (with a rating out of 5). I need peoples input as to what you would say the clouds and buzz of a shisha is FOR AN AVERAGE HOOKAH USER. I understand that some of you may get AMAZING clouds out of xxx tobacco, but that may not be the case for everyone. As much as it pains me to say it, I would say a lot of new comers would have an easier time with Starbuzz as opposed to Tangiers (just an example.) Here are the brands Al Fakher Nakhla Starbuzz Fantasia Fumari Tangiers Desi Murli In addition to this, if anyone has a good description of syrian and/or turkish hookahs, please share here or via PM. I'm not particularly versed in either, and would love outside opinions. I'm also looking for 1 or 2 people to proofread/run through it once it's completed so I know it's accurate, so if anyone has interested, lemme know! Don't feel bad if I don't pick you though, can't have EVERYONE read it before it's done. Thanks

Skoozle
I'll share my thoughts on Syrian Hookahs compared to Egyptian Hookahs. Syrian usually have a more restricted draw than KM Egyptian hookahs, although, the draw from one Syrian hookah to the next will vary more than it does in Egyptian hookahs. For instance, some Syrian hookahs have a draw that is nearly as free as a KM and very similar to other Egyptian hookahs while other Syrian hookahs (those with auto-seal hose ports) will have a draw that is more restricted than a Mya or even other Chinese hookahs with auto-seal hose ports. Syrian hookahs tend to have smaller hubs (not sure if "hubs" is a technically accurate term) and shorter down stems alloying them to be used in smaller vases. This allows greater flexibility when pairing a stem with a vase since a Syrian stem will fit in a larger vase with the proper gasket. Some Syrian hookahs have a removable bowl port allowing for interchangeable male and female bowl ports. These hookahs will typically use the screw on bowl port to secure the tray to the stem thereby eliminating tray rattle. Syrian hookahs without screw on bowl ports will usually have snap on trays which don't actually snap on to the stem, but the inner hole rests on a shoulder formed on the stem and fits very closely to the contour of the stem. This type of tray attachment will have a reduced tray rattle when compared to a typical Egyptian hookah, but it isn't held down tight to completely eliminate rattle. Be careful not to rest heavy tongs on snap on trays as they can tip over and drop your tongs, or even worse, any hot coals you may have in your tray. Syrian hookahs are generally made of solid brass components which are welded together. There are some Syrian hookahs that are made of solid brass components that screw together and can be disassembled. Some will be partially or completely nickel plated to provide a silver colored finish. Syrian hookahs are usually decorated by hand etching designs or patterns into the solid brass stem. These etchings are typically more detailed and precise than the etchings on Egyptian hookahs. This describes the majority of Syrian hookahs, however, there are exceptions such as: wooden stems, sometimes with brass inlay, hollow brass stems and marble stems. *** I posted this here in case there is a need for corrections or additions. This is just based on my own experience with Syrian hookahs.***

fuckthatvincekid
THANKYOU skoozle, that'll help a lot. I'm not sure how in depth I'll actually go compared to all the glorious info you've bestowed upon me, but I will sure use that as my source material. I may touch on the terms somewhere in my guide, but it's not my first priority. I know it's different in parts of the world, but it's the recognized lexicon in North America. It's also not that I don't want to, it's just, how do I fit that into one of my several sections without leaving giant blocks of text. At any rate, I'm about halfway done with the rough draft! Thanks for the helps guys, anything other shisha ratings or suggestions are welcome
Bawhee
do the expressions like a little tiny dictionary thingy at the very end? Also make sure to be clear on the main rule: personal preference + trial and error = the only way to real success!

[/quote] I mention a few times that everything is based off personal preference, but I'll try to work it in so it's clear as day I will see if the expressions will fit into one of my sections. I'm done with v1 of the guide for the most part, I'm just waiting for my girlfriend to have some free time, as I need to take my own pictures for the guide (I'd feel scummy just ripping images off of google). I have a DONOTS/General tips section, I'm probably missing a lot of stuff that should go in there.
