Nerdy
So in Iowa, why is it so hard to find coal, to find shisha. I have tried to scour the local a bit but the only place I have luck with is the shit lounge here. The only positive they have is AF. Other than that, nothing. There are a few hippie places that sell very generic pipes and steam/vapor stones. Am I approaching my search wrong? I'm sure there has to be a way to find a hidden gem of a tobacco shop....right? I just want to be able to find decent coal not golden river like at the lounge. Maybe I would like to try the new starbuzz flavors. Any tips for my hunt for coal and baccy? Chreees
Google Middle Eastern grocery stores. That's where I've had luck at.

Chreees
Sorry, man. There's a good decent one called Spice N Meat here just a few miles from my house in Murfreesboro, and then there's a better one in Nashville called Baraka Grocery. I'm going to miss Middle TN when I move to West TN- I don't think there are any such stores in that area.

mustang67n
Also, if you find one that carries SOME tobacco/coals, you can always ask if they'll special order for you.. some places will
Rani
My personal suggestion? Get the hell out of Iowa. Some people like "the heartland" of America type of thing, but usually not the adventurous sort of people. In the meantime....... The internet would be my friend. Hell, for a vendor that has a flat shipping rate, I'd find me some local hookah loving people and make a mass order. Anything to save a little money - for a ticket outta Iowa. Nerdy
Well I moved to Iowa from Michigan to be with my fiancée. I don't think there is a hookah scene here....yet. I think I saw this place at the mall that sells starbuzz. I might have to make friends with them and ask them to order real coal and some better baccy. Chreees
I don't think the solution is "getting the hell out of Iowa." Iowa is not the problem- the selection there is. It's all about making the best of the situation. Obviously you're not going anywhere since your girl is in Iowa, and nor should you be anywhere else. We're talking hookah supplies here, not treasure or some life-altering stuff. You should just continue doing online orders, or take advantage of the trades on here. I do more in trades than I do online orders. In fact, I hardly ever order online. There's so many goodies to be had, and at way better prices than the marked-up vendors. Also, it never hurts to talk to your local shops about what else they can get, as mentioned above. Just be straight up with them and tell them what people want compared to what they currently stock. Anyway, point is, don't let hookah supplies availability dictate where you live... I'm perfectly happy living in TN and not Cali, despite Cali having way more hookah-wise. Being close to friends and family is way more important to me than being near a bunch of hookah stuff.

Kosch
I'm assuming that, erm, "glass tobacco pipe" shops aren't exactly plentiful around there either, but the ones here seem to have a pretty great selection. Maybe that's an option? Kosch

mustang67n
LMAO rani wins so hard. Thats true, kosch, i know here most hed shops sell a lot of hookah stuff.. it's not always the best stuff, but it can keep you smoking while you wait for an order haha If you can't find stuff locally, nerdy, online is the best bet.. and it keeps it exciting while you wait for your orders to come in! Nerdy
I was only being a smart ass when I mentioned the move to Cali. I actually really like Iowa. It's a great place to be. As for the online thing, my biggest irks with that is the wait and the shipping costs. If I make an order I'm anywhere from 5-8 days out to getting it. 75% of the time when I make an order the things I want are limited or are out of stock, but as soon as I submit an order the things I want show up. It gets very annoying. The second thing is the shipping. Yea, flat rate is nice but having to pay 10 bucks every month, month and a half along with the week or so wait gets me to thinking that I'm losing out on money. I want to make a big order once or twice and stock up but I don't want to deplete my account on baccy or w.e if the flavors/brands I want aren't available. Plus, there are some new flavors that seem to fly out of nowhere and if I want to try it out, it's cost of the baccy and 10 for shipping making a 250g cost upwards of 30$ (I'm using starbuzz and tang as price examples here) I have more to say but I'm at work currently. I think this should be discussed in TC.
Chreees
Think about the taxes you would have to pay by purchasing locally, though. Flat rate shipping costs are often better than paying tax, atleast on larger orders anyway. I know what you mean about shit being out of stock and magically appearing right after you submit an order. Just seems to be the norm these days, unfortunately. Even if you did have a shop near by you could buy from, I highly doubt they would have the proper selection that would make you want to purchase from there exclusively or majorly compared to online. The two shops I mentioned before are only really good if you're looking for coals or AF. Everything else sucks, more or less. Dearborn is a whole 'nother story, though, as I'm sure you already know...
Nerdy
Whether was cloudy as shit here today
Today I woke up to frost on my windows, ice all over the steps outside my apartment. It was 3 degrees, without the windchill. I went to turn on my car this morning to warm up before work, and my nose juices froze before I got to my car, less that 35 feet away. We can trade this for clouds any day.
Venger
sounds like a business oppertunity. Open a hookah shop in town and bring good Hookah to the people.
Nerdy
Trust me, Venger, I have thought about it. I need capital first. It's something I have on the back burner. I already have an idea for a location and what I would do with a lounge. It's just money that is an issue.
