Hookah Takes A Trip And Busts A Weld.

Recommended Posts

So Skoozle and I decided to trade some stems. He sent me a used stem and I sent him a new one I was trying to sell. Ashley's arrived safely, mine did not. Now I thought i took good enough care in packaging. Apparently I was wrong. Ashley said the box arrived pretty banged up. Now there are no hard feelings in this trade, but we both thought you guys would enjoy seeing how it arrived.

Food for thought people. Stem itself is intact otherwise, except the bottom weld between the hose port and purge holes.

I'm actually pretty proud to own a rare adjustable stem KM :D

Until I saw this I thought it was only important to protect the hose port and protect the stem from getting bent. It is now clear that a stem needs padding above and below the stem in case it gets dropped long ways.

I don't think the kick to the doorstep was the first time it was kicked while being delivered.

I have a plan to fix it, although, Stuie gives me a good idea. I think I might put a float on the down stem so my water level is always perfect.

Wouldn't have happened with a Mya. :girl_cool:

Broken threads are hardly better than busted welds :P That float idea is epic, I approve.

heh, actually i must have missed the bsuted threads issue. still, to prevent busted threads just unscrew the downstem before abusing. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of welded pipes, but it's the welds that are always the weak point.

Here's my take on it-

I've experienced bad welds on a KM before.

I've experienced bad threadings on a Mya before (downstem wouldn't stay screwed in).

So there... Both have their pros and cons. :)

Cheers wins. End of story haha

Just to be THAT guy... Chris, you only put cons for both examples. Where the pros at?? Lol

It's out of love. :) <3

Lol! I didn't think it was necessary to list the pros, since everyone was focusing on the cons between the two.

Pros:

Egyptians have a more traditional look.

Myas you have more flexibility in how many hoses you want to use, or not use (screwable hose ports, auto-seal hose ports, purge valves, and caps are all easily obtainable).

There, I gave you some pros. Happy?
