HookahNoobah
I must be stupid. My goal is to acquire a hookah over three feet tall with two hoses. This seems like the most difficult task. The closest I can find is this but its only 34" and is less than $80. I'm under the assumption that an $80 hookah signals "poor quality"; is this an accurate belief? I would love to spend $80 if I am wrong; for some reason I was expecting to have to dish out $150 or so for a legitimate hookah. That website is typical of most of the hookah shops I have seen online: they do not allow you to search by height!! I have seen two exceptions, but none had two hoses that were over 36''. I have seen some that meet my qualifications but look way too much like "NH" devices, a.k.a modeled after the common water pipes used for illegal substances. I want my hookah to resemble a hookah. Is there any tips and tricks to searching for a particular hookah? Thank you.
Coleman
Use the popular sites. 5star.com hookah-shisha.com for some reason that's all I can think of for now
Bawhee
I dont really know sites due to not ordering online much (at all really.) however I can recommend you to opt for a single hose alternative, unless you really have a lot of people smoking you dont need 2 hoses, 3 people can quite comfortably smoke with a one hose pipe, 4 still works too. Thats just my opinion though.
HookahNoobah
I actually wanted to start a new post to ask that very question: is there a downside to multiple hose? I am a hermit who simply chain uses tobacco products in all forms. Once or twice a year my brother or mother might visit me, and that is the sole reason why I would like to have a second hose. The convenience of not having to pass a hose around is nice; but is there any downside to having more than a single hose on the hookah (especially if most of the time only a single hose will be used?), other than the lack of variety ? HookahNoobah
It won't let me edit yet, but here is a site that orders by height: http://www.hookahcompany.com/all_hookahs_37_ctg.htm?page=2 To bad that none of those over 36" have two hoses, except for one which is $250. Bawhee
I mean when youre smoking with people and just chatting the passing fits into the social experience quite well, otherwise some multi hoses are bad in the way that the welds can be shit, I dont know that much about pipes due to living in a quality hookah free zone, but a high quality single hose would serve you great with no hassle
Skoozle
Why does it need to be over 3 feet tall? That's pretty big for a hookah. I can understand the desire for 2 hoses. It would be a little awkward with me and my Brother if we were sharing a hose without those plastic hose tips. Too much spit sharing between brothers. I only share a hose with my wife without hose tips in most situations. http://5starhookah.com/Paragon-Black-4588.htm This is 33" and you can use it as a 1 hose unless your Brother is over then you can convert it to 2 hoses. If you ever stop being a hermet, it can go up to 4 hoses. For multi hose, I recommend Mya, I haven't been able to find a better solution.
fuckthatvincekid
Not all hose ports are auto seal, meaning if you aren't using the second hose, you will have to plug it somehow during a solo session. I much prefer having a one hose and just passing it with friends, I think it's a bit more social too (personal preference). There will also be a few more options if you go one hose. 2 hose options Heres a Mya Paragon http://www.hookah-sh...ose-hookah.html At 150 dollars, its a little pricey, but what I LOVE about myas, is their hose ports can be swapped! So you can swap the extra hose adapter off and just buy the plug (or a purge valve) to replace when smoking solo. Easy peasy. Heres a KM yellow pear 2 hose for $135 at ultimatehookah, if you're looking for a more traditional hookah. Only downside is, as I mentioned earlier, you'll have to buy a hose plug or find some other way to plug the other hose port when not in use. http://www.ultimatehookah.com/KM-Yellow-Pear-2-Hoses-2074Y.htm Also don't forget discount codes which will drop the price a little! I'm not gonna bother listing 1 hose options because they are NUMEROUS, but will do so upon request Edited January 28, 2013 by fuckthatvincekid
Stuie
Multihose... only real option is Mya Saray.
mustang67n
Mya is definitely the best option for multihose pipes. I would suggest you steer clear of any other multihose brand. I also suggest you steer clear of multihose pipes in general though. As stated above, more ports means more chances of air leaks, as well as more stuff to break. Plus if you ever want to upgrade the hoses, it will cost you twice as much! Single hose pipes are great for nearly any application. It allows for that little bit of social interaction while passing the hose, it stops you from smoking too much and getting hookahheadaches, not everyone smokes continuously, so i'm sure they won't want to sit there holding the hose if they're not even using it. this is just my opinion of course, nothing wrong with multi-hose pipes other than whats been mentioned already. Pavo21
go mya, its the only way you will get what you want. The hose ports you can switch in and out also which is nice. good luck
Chreees
I echo the Mya Saray response...
HookahNoobah
Thank you everyone for the responses. I might just go with a single hose since I will be the only one using it 99% of the time. So that means I should get a 48" right? What are the downsides to purchasing a large hookah over a smaller one?
Chreees
Lol, why do you want such a large one?? Only one disadvantage to owning a larger hookah- harder to clean.
Skoozle
At 48" you are going to have to stand up to adjust your coals. It's going to be a pain in the ass to do it while sitting at 36" This ended up being around 48" It worked because I was standing up most of the night anyway. Again, why does it have to be so tall? Stuie
Bigger is better, right?
nope. Quality is better. I can get thunder clouds out of my 10" Mya Petite or my 35" Regal Melech If you perfect how you pack a bowl and your heat management, then you can get a a quality hookah you like, despite the size. Stuie
Plus once you past the 36" mark, most hookahs become unsteady because the center of gravity is at where the base meats the stem. It would be like having your own center of gravity at your knees... prepare to kiss a lot of pavement. Skoozle's setup above I have done with that before. Center of Gravity is higher on that one and works. Problem is dumping that thing is a pain. Cracked mine last summer.
HookahNoobah
In relation to a part on your body when you are sitting down, how much shorter should the coals be? I am in a pretty tall chair at my desk. 48" measures to the bottom of my nose.
HookahNoobah
Or what is the highest that would be comfortable without having to stand to adjust the coals?
Stuie
sit in your chair. arm to your side. raise your hand parrellel to your elbow. Rotate your hand to the side, keeping the upper arm against your body. Height up to your hand is perfect for your sitting arrangment. (with attached bowl) Allows you movement for coal management with out moving your arm in weird ways or standing up.
joytron
Or what is the highest that would be comfortable without having to stand to adjust the coals?
Just find a pipe you really love and go that route. Unless you are overcompensating of course, and then by all means get a pipe tall enough you can adjust the coals from inside your hummer. HookahNoobah
At those measurements Stuie I come in at a meager 30". For a single bowl, are we constantly adjusting the coals throughout the bowl? In regards to cleaning a large hookah, is this practically accomplished in the shower? What is the best method?
