PersianPride
I was in the bakery supplies store recently helping my mum get some rare supplies for a particualr Persian pastry when I spotted some pretty interesting things. Its a range of concentrated 'essences' which from what I gather people pour into cakes and puddings to give them a particular taste. What was really amazing however was the variety there is everything from the fruits like strawberry, orange, appple to stuff such as peppermint essence and coconut essence I even saw a aniseed essence. I bought like a dozen of these 50ml vials and am going to try and experiment with them. They give the option of enhancing the smoke of some of the less standard flavours like mint and banana that aren't covered by common fruit juices. Just a thoughtIt was actually this very brand:http://www.continentaldelights.com.au/imag...t%20essence.jpg

mushrat
I believe those are exactly the kind of flavourings some tobacco companies use on their shihsa. A lot of artificial candy flavourings..you don't think they all use REAL fruit to flavour their stuff do you?
PersianPride
think its more a problem of real fruit juice and pieces don't keep for 2 years.
lwieise
I actually saw something about making your own shisha. You can mix it with organic fruit preserves for a while and it will take on that flavor.
DizzyGuy
Hmmm, sounds interesting... maybe add some to the base for more effect?
mushrat
Actually, Honey and Molasses, the bases for most Ma'asels, are great natural preservatives. So many shishas COULD last 2 years without additional preservatives and still use real fruit. Just most DON't. Probably for cost and ease of production, becasue lets face it, while many flavours are good, they sure as hell aren't "natural".
Sonthert
Also, if you remove the nicotine, you have to put a preservative on it.Those flavorings won't work. They contain water.
