Getting Back In The Game.

Recommended Posts

Long story made short.

Got married, stopped smoking because the wife didn't like it much, but now she has given me the ok to get back into it and even wants to try it with me.

With that being said, I more or less got out of the game around early 2010.

I'm not sure how much, if anything has changed but would love to get an update. I'm shopping for a new pipe, and it looks like KM's are as popular as ever. However, It looks as if Nammor has their own line of hookahs now? From what I've read, it looks like they perform pretty well.

Anyhow, would love to hear about some of the new products, tobacco lines, etc that have come out that you guys are enjoying. Hopefully I'll get to stick around.

Oh, by the way, Nakhla double apple forever.

nakhla double apple is still a favorite..

otherwise syrian and turkish hookahs seem to be gaining in popularity. They're notably more rare than the KM's but they really are beautiful pipes. Tangiers is still growing in popularity, now it's to the point where it's really difficult to get teh flavors you want when you want them.
Eric has also released a number of new sizes of bowls with a numbering system for the size.. 8 being the smallest (Pico) 1 being the largest (large)

Lots of new coconut coal brands. some of them great. others are debatable.

always new hoses to come out.. lots of new washables on the market which is cool. BANNED VENDOR has come out with some new bowl designs (the alien, flying saucer, etc) as well as some boho bases

kasbahookah is new to the scene. Regular member here and they specialize in more rare, unique, and hard to find items, he brought some BEAUTIFUL boho's to the market which are now available elsewhere too i believe, but he's got some really cool stuff for sale on a regular basis.

theres more, i'm sure.. Edited by Chreees
Mentioned banned vendor.

New lines:

Nakhla Mizo (I love the blueberry and raspberry, others like lechee (sp?))

Tangiers Birquq

Those are the 2 that I know of...I think there's been a few starbuzz lines that have been released but I haven't tried them.

Welcome back man!

More like KMs are overpriced as ever. And they've declined in quality, too. Just not made like they used to be. There's many other options out there that are cheaper and just as good if not better. Check out the Hookah Pipes review section to see what all is out there, browse around, find what you like. Then ask us where to get it and we'll point you in the right direction.

As Nate said, Syrian and Turkish hookahs are all the craze right now. I own two Al Nawras Syrians, and just got a Tokel Turkish. Sold my KM OG Trimetal. I love the three current models I have now. My Al Nawras Spear I hold dearest to my heart, though, and always will. They're actually available right now on 5StarHookah.com. Very rare, so get one while you can. After this they're gone. And who knows when we will see a fresh steady supply of hookahs out of Syria again (hope their civil war ends soon).

Tangiers and Nakhla are kings right now. Tangiers has the new Birquq line out, along with a limited line made from burley tobacco. Check my Guide to Tangiers Success thread in my sig to learn the differences between these new lines, and if they might be for you. Nakhla has the Mizo and Mix lines, which are both highly praised. I've yet to try and of the Mix flavors, but Mizo is amazing stuff.

Other stuff has come out too, but that's the stuff most worth mentioning. :)

Any questions, ask away man. Again, excellent to have an OG member back!

Well darn. I kind of made an impulsive purchase last evening without consulting this thread. I'm sad to hear that KM's have declined in quality. I used to own an exotica back in the day (purchased in 06 or 07 I believe). That thing was magic. Don't have the pipe anymore though.

To try and relive the glory days, I went ahead and purchased a mini exotica. I'm kind of a function over form guy. The price was low relative to the other km pipes so I went ahead and dove in.

Along with the pipe, I went ahead and purchased another km hose (72" black), Black vortex bowl (wanted to see what the fuss was about), a tangiers wind cover, various grommets, and of course some coals and baccy.

Baccy list:

50 G Nakhla Cardamom (sherazade)

50 G Nakhla sweet melon

250 G Nakhla mizo mint (in container)

250 G Nakhla double apple (in tin)

and for the wife

100 G fumari tropical punch

100 G fumari spiced chai tea

In the future I look to purchase a funnel, and probably ease myself back into tangiers.

I will also likely consider getting a syrian pipe to see what they are all about. Perhaps a Km beast hose.

Here are some questions:

Have any of you used any of the ice tips? Do they make a difference? Are they worth the money?

What about the new tangiers lines? I used to smoke noir, so I know little about birquq and lucid lines.

That should about do it for now. Unless you guys want to convince me to stop using chronic instant lite coals and convert to all natural coals. (Yes, I know I should, I just haven't yet.)

fumari tropical punch wasn't the most pleasant flavour i found way to mild, my gf looooves spice chai and white peach ( fumari )

â€
nammor hoses are no longer of good quality, km washable hoses are good personally i love nogooms.

â€
syrian and turkish hookahs are big right now, but kms are still great and another great brand of egyptian hookahs is farida. kms quality isnt as good as it use to be
â€
5starhookah has a great syrian al nawras pipe right now but alittle pricey, i had a km beast hose and hated it... barely fit into my kms will never fit into a syrian or anything similar and the gauge of the hose was too large for my taste

A lot of folks will disagree with me on this, but if you used to smoke noir before, you don't really need to mess with lucid and birquq.

Lucid is a more washed version of noir and is easier to deal with than noir; like noir with training wheels.

Birquq uses a different flavor base and is more heat sensitive than noir in some cases. I found most of the birquq flavors to be weak and disappointing.

If you must try Birquq, I recommend Kashmir Peach, Ololoqui and, if you like lighter flavors, maybe Soursop.

Get some lucid if you feel you need the safety net getting back into Tangiers or if the flavor you want isn't available in Noir.

Welcome back!

Nammor pipes and hoses kick ass, everyone loves Syrians and Turks, get a phunnel bowl, smoke lots of Tangiers.
