Coyote
Often when I am helping people with their Tangiers I find that there is some kind of acclimation issue. Usually I am able to figure out the cause and the tobacco gets acclimated fine. However there have been a few incidences when the basic guidelines don't seem to work. In one instance someone was trying to acclimate their tobacco next to their turtle tank, in another they were acclimating their Tangiers next to a window, in another there were lots of plants in the room. All these things effected the humidity in their smoking/acclimation area. So I was thinking, if there are a plants that add to the humidity in a room then there must be plants that subtract humidity from the room also. So after a quick google search I found a few articles: http://public.wsu.edu/~lohr/hih/air/ http://www.doityourself.com/stry/5-indoor-plants-that-will-absorb-the-humidity-in-your-house#b It's not clear in the 2nd article the degree to which humidity is pulled out of the air. In your experience, what is the relationship between plants and humidity and it's effect on your Tangiers acclimation?
mattarios2
When I was having SERIOUS issues with Tangiers acclimating, it was during the summer here, and our summers are as humid as you will see. I tried it again recently as you (coyote) and others know, which is during the winter, and the 3 flavors I bought acclimated fine. Even if the humidity is consistent, I feel intense levels of humidity make Tangiers extremely difficult to smoke, at least in my experience during the summer my Tangiers was very difficult to acclimate if it acclimated at all. So I agree with your findings thus far.
