Tecnorobo
We've all been surprised before when smoking various shisha's. Some are pleasant surprises, others, not so much. So, I'd love to hear about some of your pleasant and unpleasant surprises in the hookah world. One of my most vividly remembered surprises came in the form of nakhla cardamom sherazade. I remember buying a box of this stuff in early 08, not really knowing a single thing about it. If you've never tried this stuff before, you should. When I opened the box I was literally knocked back with the potent smell. It is potent. I was very pleasantly surprised with a complex delicious smoke however. Earthy, sweet, minty and spicy. An unpleasant surprise? AF Grape. I mean, do I really have to explain that one?
mustang67n
Cane mint.. not expecting it to be so strong.. SUPRISE!! also kashmir.. it smells sweeter than it tastes
mattarios2
Nak ice lemon mint is one that comes to mind, smells lemony and not that strong, when you light it up though, wow, sour, minty, and strong all around!
Tecnorobo
Cane mint.. not expecting it to be so strong.. SUPRISE!! also kashmir.. it smells sweeter than it tastes Is cane mint make your lungs cold strong? A super strong mint doesn't sound appealing... and also sounds like it would overpower things in mixes.
mustang67n
It's not ideal for mixes. it's good in some (cocoa, for instance) it is really strong especially the first few times. It tastes like a candy cane though.. amazing.. with cocoa it makes it taste as if you melted a candy cane into hot chocolate. yummahhh but tangiers mint is better than cane mint for mixing, for sure
Tecnorobo
Sounds pretty tasty. I'm pretty fond of mizo mint myself. Looks like I have some things to try. Edited February 13, 2013 by Tecnorobo
Coyote
Pleasant: Tangiers Marigold Noir- I couldn't find any information about it and only one review so I decided to give it a try. It's now one of my favourite flavours. Unpleasant: AF Coconut- omg hurl i don't want to talk about it.
Chreees
Like... surprise buttsex? Most pleasant surprise I've had when it comes to hookah is Tangiers' floral component flavors... I always thought I'd hate floral flavors, and I often do in other brands, but when I tried Tangiers Indian Summer, Static Starlight, Regal Flower, Double Orange, etc., I was impressed. They are now among my favorite flavors to date. My most unpleasant surprise was similar to Katie's... Nakhla Coconut. That shit seriously tastes like you're putting suntan lotion in your mouth. :puke:

That shit seriously tastes like you're putting suntan lotion in your mouth. :puke: ^chhrreess said that Yeah I talked to Eric one time about my terrible experience with AF coconut and apparently its one of the more difficult flavours (iirc... i think it was compared to grape... and then a discussion of particles happened). But the Tangiers Coconut is actually pretty good. Its more oily than sweet and kinda subtle. I prefer to smoke it as a mixer with citrus (Orange Soda is good...) or Tropical fruit because it adds a little bit of creaminess without the suntan lotionesque quality :P So yeah I had my doubts about Tangiers Coconut but I was pleasantly surprised! Chreees
Oddly enough, as much as I love coconut flavored stuff, I have still yet to try Tangiers Coconut. Nakhla just kinda discouraged me from ever really wanting to try a coconut tobacco flavor again, lol.

Also Lemon Blossom gave me faith in Rose also. Also Strangest surprise.... there was a day once, when Chris posted less than 50 posts... i know it's hard to believe, but it's true.
Skoozle
I receiged this 50g sample pack of Nak Cardamom in a trade one time. Then I waited a year or so before I tried it. It must have been pretty old when I got it because I loaded it up and the first puff was like a mouth full of sand. My reaction was so bad that my wife and brother in law had to try it. Like when everyone taste the expired milk. Everyone agreed it tasted like sand. Ghosted my pipe with a sand taste too. Regal Flower was my best suprise to date, followed closely by Seville Orange. Seville Orange is pretty good but not as good as Regal Flower, I just expected Seville Orange to be aweful.

Never sand though. Sorry for your bad experience. Also, I've had some of the "suntan lotion" shishas before. They are not fun. And yes, they really do taste like suntan lotion. Skoozle
Yeah, I think I would actually like some fresh cardamom, but what I tried was obviously ancient.
â€On
Tangiers Kashmir Peach in Birquq blew me away like nothing else. I knew what to expect, since I had Noir KP before, but in Birquq it's like everything just gelled together for me. It's the only flavor that has ever had me smoke back to back bowls of it (~6 hours of smoking) on the first bowl. It's also one of only like 4 flavors that I would buy 4kg of it and smoke it all within a couple months. Now, if I could just find some more....

Coyote
Yeah, I think I would actually like some fresh cardamom, but what I tried was obviously ancient. interesting.. I have some Nak cardamom from a trade and I thought it was pretty ok. It wasn't spot on cardamom though... it was alittle mothbally but as it started to calm down in the middle of the session i thought it was enjoyable. I might mix it with something next time... Its so weird not smoking Tangiers though...maybe I'll mix it with some Tangiers like horchata or something and make chaichata. lol. WHAT A SURPRISE! btw chaichata is very fun to say. Tecnorobo
Confessionally, I recognize it's probably not a flavor for everyone. But I like the stuff a lot. Definitely a change of pace smoke, not an everyday thing.
mushrat
Ah yes, Nak Cardamon, tasted like Bengay. One of the most foul things I have ever even TRIED to smoke.Pleasant surprise would have to be Smiley's Wedding Cake. Sucker tasted just like a vanilla cake with butter frosting. Was a hell of a shock when it tasted like what it said it was. :)
