Nakhla Help!

Recommended Posts

Ok so I've read all the forums and watched all the packing videos. Today I got it to smoke really well. Thick clouds and really impressive. However I'm not getting any flavor :( I'm smoking some nakhla strawberry I received from Chris. Any suggestions would be helpful! I smoked outta my mya gelato using a standard Egyptian bowl. Thanks in advance

I suggest trying a different flavor. I think no flavor is the common experience with Nak Strawberry.

Other than that, check for leaks. Nak is extremely forgiving with packing, but try fluff packing if you packed it tight or pack it tight if you fluff packed.

It could be one of several things. Assuming you are using clean water/hose, I'll just put in my suggestions on the shish. I prefer Nahklah most and personally use starbuzz (small) insta-lights since I don't have patience for the other stuff. Nahklah isn't excessively juicy, but if it is bone-dry, then it will not smoke that well. I sometime try various methods to re-moisturize it, but that's a different subject.

If the shisha is bone-dry, you'll have a tough time getting a good smoke out of it. Some of their flavors are better than others about this. Otherwise, make sure to break it up well with your fingers or whatever other method you want to use. Some go as far to blend their shish, others use tongs - don't do this. Load it to the brim and poke a symmetrical amount of large holes in circles around the bowl. Due to the lesser-moisture of the tobacco, I find even, lesser amounts, of larger holes works best with it.

I light the coal, put it on upside down originally until the bottom is fully heated, then flip it. Don't suck really hard to start it, just normal and let it start organically. Hope this helped.

I did a light and fluffy pack. I guess I can try a tight pack soon.
Whoblowsthere: I got it to smoke really good. Thick clouds even for nakhla there was just no flavor. I stir it up and fluffed it and broke it up. Just no flavor :(
I guess I need to try my flavors before I give up and throw in the towel on nakhla. Who wants to send me some free samples? ;)

I pack Nak pretty tight in the bowl. As much as I can without restricting air flow (Egyptian bowl). Then I try to poke all the way down through the holes in the bowl to reduce the chances of a clog in case some tobacco shifts around.

I don't necessary think that produces better flavor than fluff packing, but I'm kind of a "more is better" kind of guy when it comes to enjoying tobacco.

I understand. I also poked all the way down to the bottom. I feel like because I got good smoke I probably packed it right. Think maybe te flavor is just off

I get the tobacco undertones. It's not bad I just wish I could taste the strawberry. I'll end up smoking it all no matter what haha. I'll mess with packing densities and what not and report back

Nak work best for me in an Egyptian and the Alien bowl. I'm starting to love the Egyptian more and more because it's honestly the easiest packing ever. I grab a clump...toss it in the bowl... Move the baccy from over the holesand bit and then add foil . With the foil causing it to compact down and what not.

The alien pack is more or less like tang but down a notch on the tightness and up a notch on the amount so that its touching foil. Has never failed. You need to hop on TC one of these days.

I really enjoy naklah strawberry :0  I've never had any issues with naklah

I only smoke it in a Egyptian bowl I pack it tight and poke holes like i do on tangiers, but i also get a long poker and go from under the bowl and poke through the foil so that i know the 5 holes on the bowl are not clog.
