chinodos
So I gott a new khalil mamoon trimetal for my bday! Ive been wanting one due to the massive clouds ive seen everyone else get with these. I get the feelin im doing something wrong due to little bitty clouds. Im no nkvice to hookah, but ive really only dealt with low level egyptian and mya hookahs. I tend to lean towards fantasia amd starbuzz brands os shisha. I thoughtmy issue could be the release valve being too open so I covered it with paper, ive kept the water level an inch above the bottom of the stem, I use a heba filter and I just started usin the kaloud lotus. Any ideas?
chinodos
Oh forgot to mention im using fantasia coals, 2 of them
Nerdy
Would it be possible for you to upload a pic of the bowl? Packed and all ready to smoke? also a shot of hole pattern? There are too many unknown variables to say this or that is being done correctly or incorrectly.
chinodos
Its a regular egyptian clay bowl and with the lotus theres no foil ( therefore no hole pattern). I actually added a third coal standing up so it woild fit in the lotus and i got bigger clouds! Any other tips to maximize smoke would be accepted though. Also, would like to know if im right in blocking the release valve with paper? Im insure if this is helping or hurting my smoke sessions. And i do plan on getting a phunnel or harmony bowl soon. In case thats the recommendation
joytron
1. Check to see if there are any leaks Yes? Fix leaks and remove the paper. No? There is nothing wrong with your pipe, work on your heat management and packing.
Chreees
Moving this to the appropriate section.
Nerdy
What joy said... The best way to check for leaks is put your oalm over the bowl port and suck on the hose port ... You should not be able to pull anythjngif there are no leaks. If you're worried about your purge valve, I suggest getting a plastic bb to replace the metal one. My metal Bb was more square than round, give me my own issues until I noticed it was oddly shaped. Used a plastic one and problem solved. As for "thicker clouds" it somewhat depends on the tobacco. I do want to make note that most "huge clouds" videos are with people applying wwaaayy too much heat giving the illusion of super huge clouds and clouds always look bigger on camera for some reason. So don't let the videos fool you.
mushrat
Sounds like it is packed too tight. If the air can't get through the tobacco you end up charing the top layer of tobacco, giving little smoke and no flavour.
chinodos
So I should pack lighter, or fluffier? In the egyptian im only getting 15-20 grams as is. And there isnt a ball bearing within the purve valve for this hookah, should it have one? It basically cam as a long cylinder with a cross opening at the top end. The cylinders screws onto the hookah. BTW than chrees havent posted in a while, im trying to get back in the swing of things im pretty sure no leaks but ill try nerdys method to doublencheck. I actually got a good run out of it last night. Cant wait to get my phunnel bowl, hopefully it simplifies things like it did with , my other hookahs. Anyone have any experience using the lotus on a phunnel bowl?

Pavo21
Get rid of the filter, it CUTS IT DOWN A LOT, i used one to just test out a new as a new product and it makes the pull harder and less.
chinodos
Great idea on removing the filter! Smoking without it now and cumulonimbus's are flowing! Odd, i always thought the heba filter helped the smoke volume
Tecnorobo
Sounds like that was your problem. I bought a heba filter once, and I'm pretty sure it went in the trash a few sessions afterwards because of that reason.

Rani
A missing BB in a purge valve is an automatic leak by the way. You can either get one and dump it in there, or since I rarely have reason to purge, when a pipe I bought was missing it's BB, I just stuffed the purge with a little ball of tinfoil and done deal. Crhiss
Yeah defiantly a BB to put in the purge valve. I personally have no problem and didnt see any difference with my heba diffuser. I use it when watching movies or have people over and if I was deaf I wouldn't know the difference
Coyote
Yeah... I'm going with missing BB as usual.
