Nakhla Tropicana

Recommended Posts

you don't know how they turned out

Not yet, but I soon will. Gonna shave tomorrow. In all seriousness, if they turn out good I'd be willing to do yours free. It's actually so easy I highly recommend picking up one yourself from Larry and then you never have to worry about it again.

Okay, back on topic...

Well I add one 2 oz bottle of glycerin to an entire 250g of khan, then I break it up with 2 forks and then I usually mix 30% or so into whatever flavor I am going to smoke prior to packing the bowl.

I have absolutely no idea wth this accomplishes and sounds interesting.  Make us a tutorial!

Lol, Helios, it is easy. Khan and other black tobaccos by nakhla are really dry. You don't have to but to increase the duration you can add glycerin to it. Stir a bottle into 250g, the stuff at michaels is 2 oz which is more than enough for a 250g, and then add 30% of the khan mixture to any flavor you want, adds a wonderful tobacco flavor to any flavor.

Adding glycerine also means you can smoke them with foil and 3 coals, instead of needing to go without foil (or with foil but 6 coals) - this stuff will not smoke at all straight out of the box if done as you would regular nakhla

Correct, I should have mentioned that, thanks Hass!

Is Zag considered Nak Black or is that in its own section?

Did you give me some of this?? What is the right type of glycerin again?

To each their own. I get about 55 minutes from a turk with 3 coconut coals, When I used my smedium it held nearly 40g used 4 coals and lasted like 1 hour and 10 min. So I conserve like 16-20g of tobacco and 1 coal while only losing roughly 10 min of smoke time.

Lol what do you puff the thing once every 10 minutes? And one round of 2 coals lasts 2-3 hours?

I do only smoke with like 3-5 people so every person chiefs it, could play a factor but I still can't see a 25g bowl of nakhla last 2-3 hours unless you really relax on it.

Despite smoking time, the flavor does not compare, tastes much better in a traditional bowl like an Egyptian or Turkish bowl.

I know what you are talking about jay, acclimate it and make sure not to let it get to hot and that flavor is not present. First few times I had it I tasted exactly what you described, but with a little acclimation and not too much heat that flavor is not there.

Also I tried twoapples technique of 3 coals in a pyramid then drop the coal on top when the coals die down and with 4 people chiefing on the hookah constantly I got an hour and thirty minutes, pretty darn good.
