Mouthpieces And The Nu Hose / Fancy Hose

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if these mouthpieces sold online would fit one of these plastic hoses?  I'm pretty sure they won't just fit in snugly if I removed the plastic mouthpiece but is there any way anyone's thought of that could affix them to the tubing?

You can buy plastic flex hose in various diameters.  I'd take whatever mouth pieces  you want to use to the hardware store and buy what fits on the spot.  You could use a good silicon adhesive to put it permanently into place, but personally, I'd use a small cinch strap and a cool hose cover.  Best of both worlds.

Where would one get "plastic flex hose"?  Are you referring to the plastic tubing stuff at Home Depot / Lowe's / etc.?  I've used that stuff before and did the whole "put the tube in boiling hot water and stretch/bend the crap out of it" with little results.  I like the NuHose tubing b/c it's super flexible and doesn't weigh a ton.

i've never tried to put a different tip in the nu hose tubing part. but if you find a tip like from a km hose that "should" fit in it might be a bit dfificult to get it in and would be kinda weird since its just a tip and its short and stubby lol

Santino needs to start making tips for NU/fancy hoses. If anyone has seen the new fancy handles they have, those would be amazing if made of glass.

Only hang up would be price. Idk if someone would pay over $15/$20 for a tip for a cheap plastic hose. I would gladly pay $20/25 for one

There are lots of places beyond the big box hardware stores where you buy the soft tubing.  Any places dealing with air pumps for example, anyplace dealing with HVAC stuff, builders supply.  The big box hardware stores are really for the guys who are doing the basic home improvement stuff.  To get the softer and better materials, you should be looking at places who work with tradesmen.  Oh, and you can order the tubing online as well.  Scalliwag used to get some that was black for his custom made wooden mouthpieces.

Yeah, but are you talking about the diameter only?  Because I wouldn't want to put one of Santino's works of art on tubing that's intended to be discarded after a few uses.  But if they were designed in size to be a specific diameter to fit up to a specific soft tubing we could order by the roll........ Now that's I'd seriously invest in, because it really would be the best investment.  Tubing you could toss and keep the beautiful handmade mouthpieces!

I'm pretty sure if you just shoot him an email he can hook you up with what would fit, but I agree it'd be nice if he had pieces dedicated to fitting in nuhose/fancy hoses.
