wooden hookahs

Recommended Posts

i tried the search engine didnt find much. I wanna know what everyone thinks about wooden iranian hookahs. I finally found some sweet persian stores in Vancouver and one is selling a beautiful wooden hookah for 70$. Not a bad price. Oh ya and i was talkin to the owner and he was tellin me that on each 50gram box of tobacco he has to pay 11$ tax importing it into canada. its ridiculous.

All in all it's about $232.98/kg plus 4% of the total value. For the mathematically challenged that equals a grand total of an arm, two legs, and the shirt off your back. p.s.Don't forget the handling fee!

I think having a wooden hookah would be really cool if you had a particular flavor (maybe 2 but nothing too strong) that you dedicated the hookah too. If the inside of the stem was indeed wood, it would start to develop a flavor of its own--kind of like aging wine/whiskey barrels. You would probably have to run something abrasive through the stem to keep nasty shit from groing inside--especially if lots of shisha juice dripped down the stem.

Wooden hookahs were designed to be used with actual pipe tobacco. Newer maasel contains alot of glycerine which is vaporized and makes glycerine vapor, which refluxes on the sides of the pipe and stays there, since glycerine doesn't vaporize appreciably. It gets absorbed into the wood and makes the wood expand and finally split since it doesn't evaporate.

Hmm, makes a lot of sense. Nice having someone around who knows what he is talking about. [quote name='Tangiers']Wooden hookahs were designed to be used with actual pipe tobacco.
