thehelios
In an attempt to stop the sale of bongs and other marijuana related paraphernalia, the Florida House of Representatives now has a proposed bill to ban the sale of the following: “(a) Metal, wooden, acrylic, glass, stone, plastic, or ceramic smoking pipes, with or without screens, permanent screens, or punctured metal bowls. (b) Water pipes. (c) Carburetion tubes and devices. (d) Chamber pipes. (e) Carburetor pipes. (f) Electric pipes. (g) Air-driven pipes. (h) Chillums. (i) Bongs. (j) Ice pipes or chillers.” Note part (b) which states "water pipes". I highly doubt they are going to put in an exception specifically for "hookah pipes". Here's hoping that this crap doesn't pass. This would royally suck for all hookah shops located in Florida. http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Documents/loaddoc.aspx?FileName=_h0049c1.docx&DocumentType=Bill&BillNumber=0049&Session=2013
twoapplesplease
Ugh the stupidity...thinking that if they cut the supply of pipes it will keep people from useing NHT. Whats next a ban on Betty Crocker brownie mix?

DrSmokes
Might as well get rid of the sale of pens...heck, how about aluminum foil. If someone is motivated enough, they can find something and smoke from it. Heck, just going to your hardware store...you can make whatever the hell you want and smoke whatever the hell you want out of it.

Rani
Florida obviously has too many old folks lying around turning into grouchy "I didn't get to have no fun, so can't nobody else" prunes. I listen to some people my age and older and I swear I don't know how we got so many people in this country because you'd swear none of them every had a drink, or a smoke, or got laid in their entire lives. Satou
Unfortunately, Rani; They have but they have forgotten it. I think it is rather hilarious they think that the banning of 'bongs' or any type of pipe will deter individuals from finding and smoking illegal substances. Hell why not ban Apples and Waterbottles as well?
Coyote
Well y'know... they get to pretend they are fighting the war on drugs with the added opportunity to continue the vilification of Middle Eastern culture.
Santino
One of my (usually) reliable sources tells me this is likely going to pass. Quite unfortunate.
mustang67n
I like how while some states are passing laws legalizing, others are working towards banning further. Shows how diversified and un-unified our country is.
Santino
From my understanding, this is a back handed response from the soon-to-be legalization of medical cannabis usage. They're essentially trying to take the focus off of that and create an uproar with this. Florida smoke shops have all dumped thousands of dollars into a collective attorney pool to combat this.
