Stuie
I have been a huge fanboy of Coconara since they hit the market. I was running low on Flat Cocos of all types and dangerously close of having to break into my secret stash of Original Coconara Cubes, So I made a couple small orders last week. Ended up getting CCN in all the sizes 16, 45, and 108 (don't ask it's an OCD thing). Now these came from 2 different retailers. I used a set from the 45 and the coals smelled, smoked and ashed (RED ASH) just like Coco Buzz. Thought oh well no biggie, try the 16. Same thing. Now I am pissed. Light up the some from the 108 box....same result. WHAT THE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe this, seriously. Right now, I am making an order for a large batch of Gaia Coals and a couple of CH coals since it's been a while. I must say I now have to say..."So long Coconara!" joytron
I wish I could find the Gaia Coals you sent me locally. I was really impressed with them in all regards besides their irregular size. I still have not had an issue with coconaras though.

Chreees
Odd. I have still yet to have that sort of trouble with Coconaras. I picked up 4 boxes here locally and they are good. Sorry you have not had good luck with them here lately. :(
Woodsytheowl
I bought a case a while back and have been taking out crap coals from each box and putting them in a separate box. Needless to say, I found about a complete box of shitty coals :/
Hassouni
red ash???

fineout
I read somewhere that 108pc boxes are fake, is there a stamp on the bottom of the top flap? If not then it might be counterfeit.
Chreees
No, the 108 count boxes are legit. It's the 140 count boxes or whatever that are definitely fakes. CCNs these days only come in 16, 45, and 108 count boxes. I think that's right anyway...
Pavo21
Pavo is a jap man. I think they are too messy to use primarily stuie knows me well :) yah i prefer them. i feel that with coconuts they are more of a mess idk i just dont want to have to blow my coals off to get the ash off of them plus they put off more heat then i usually prefer. plus i do enjoy lighting my coals off my lit coals so i dont need to make trips to the stove since when i smoke i smoke for a long time. Idk, Goldens are surely my go-to coal when I don't have a coil burner at my disposal, but I don't like the mess either. Also, I think a good coconut coal like CCN will give a cleaner flavor more so than any of the other coals I've tried. As for the ash, I'm lazy and barely ever ash my coals. I still get great heat with minimal management. But to each their own! :)
Pavo21
I like GC's but i use Easy Light coals or the starbuzz ones depending on bowl size but i just prefer them more then coconut ones. but i do have coco ulitmate and some coco naras on hand just for back up though. Chreees
I'm not sure I follow... Sorry. My CCNs work fine despite their inconsistent shapes. Actually, the box I'm using right now they're all really consistent so far.
Hellz
speaking of inconsistant shapes (Little off topic) But I use razans, and I've been saving all the messed up coals to mail to Mahir on Xmas :D

Chreees
Again, the most people I see who complain about CCNs just prefer to rep another coal brand more. I'm sure there are legitimate complaints, but I also feel some are just BSing. Some of you will know what I am getting at, some of you will not. :)
