ChicagoRSX
I'm only asking due to having my first experience this week with one. When I purchased my Nammor from Nerdy, one was included with it. Maybe I've been spoiled by my Crown bowls and my Tang phunnel, but I found this bowl to nearly worthless. I packed SB Blue mist as I always do, nice and fluffy. But still the bowl was restricted as all hell. Taking a good pull was nearly impossible. I almost think I'm going to drill out the top of the phunnel to make it a mashup vortex/phunnel. I've never had an issue with foil drag until I smoked out of this bowl. I personally couldn't see how anyone would choose one of these over a typical phunnel. mujahid_shahid
I'm interested in seeing what the replies are here. I have two vortex bowls, one large and one small but I hardly ever use them. I usually just stick to my Tang bowls and my Egys.
ChicagoRSX
Yeah, if someone has success smoking with them, that's all that matters, but I've never had a session that was that unpleasant as I did using it.
Nerdy
I hope this won't come across as biased, but when I had the bowl, air flow was good, not restricted. The only issue I had with the bowl was that it would heat/burn the top layer before getting to the bottom layer of shisha. The bowl worked really well with fumari though. When I packed it, I made sure to keep as much shisha away from the spire. I am over the vortex because of the fact that 60% of the time the bottom layer was not even cooked. I guestthose hollow walls didn't work out all too well for them. How's the Cleo treating you?
Chreees
I do not.
redwingsoverbaron
i think they work fine, granted, all i ever smoked out of it was SB, and they are really fragile. i just packed mine about where teh holes in the spire are, really loose, 3 naras, and it works fine, good flavor. and it cooked all the way through, but like i said, i only noticed this working with SB, and all that shit does now is give me a headache, so yeah, fuck all that. Stuie
I have had luck with the pyrex model, the ceramic one is worthless to me.
Grim_Puffer
All I use is vortex. Never had an issue. I think I was lucky though. My holes on the middle spire are near the very top, and I've only had minor issues with wet shisha still in the bottom. I will say the only issue I have is you cannot add more coals. Every time I would it was too harsh and because the top was already dry it just burned. My only complaint.
ChicagoRSX
The cleo is treating me really well! Never really realized just how big jumbo vases are until I had one in my hands. Smokes like a champ and get's rotated in and out with my MYA Staff and my other one, which I was told was a syrian, but I haven't uploaded any pictures yet. mattarios2
I am not a fan, I use either tang phunnel, egyptian bowl, or turkish bowl, but 99% of the time lately it has been turk bowl only!

Tyler
I like my vortex, I use it for Fantasia exclusively. Works like a charm. That "wet" shisha at the bottom can be reused as a base (kind of like a shisha mod for the bowl lol). But never had issues with mine, but my spire has the holes pretty high on the spire and my "pit" is a lot deeper than the ones I've seen in the last year or so in the stores
mustang67n
OP, vortex is shit. Youre right to hate it. Stick with tang funnels, everyone knows theyre the best bowl ever so why bother with anything else. ^ i agree.. However.. Egyptian clay bowls.. and especially turkish bowls are GREAT for nakhla.. SultanOfSchwing
I am surprised at some of these responses. I never have a problem using my vortex. in fact when I combine it with my Lotus I never have a problem, you just have to pack the bowl correctly. You have to use less sheesha than you think is necessary. you have to actually pack it down a little and not leave it as fluffy like you would with an Egyptian Bowl. Make sure that the sides have more shisha than the center where the spire is. Then start the bowl with the heat in the center, and then add new coals as the bowl gets going. I use a Lotus and it's fantastic with my Vortex; never a bad session, with great clouds for an hour+.

mustang67n
great clouds for an hour+. So there are issues with longevity? BAM thats what she said! also true.. An hour plus isn't anything to brag about really. That can be had from the deep mya bowls, and other mod bowls. The point it, why use a vortex, if the same longevity, flavor, and clouds can be had with any other standard bowl that comes with the pipe? Chreees
I'd rather use a Tangiers Phunnel and always have the option to smoke longer. I often change my mind throughout the session as to how long I want to smoke. What may start out as a 30 minute quickie will often turn into me canceling whatever plans I had that was gonna make me leave in 30 minutes and I'll just end up smoking for 5 hours.
Bawhee
jeez now I want a 5 hour smoke session. also, never used a vortex but I quite like my phunnel with wet tobaccos, pointless with nak tho, nak in a turkish bowl is epic.
â€On
A vortex is a lot like your first serious girlfriend. At the time, you think "wow, you're everything I want! sure, you've got some flaws, but I'm willing to look past them because you're so good to me baby!" After a few more bowls, different sizes and shapes, you find the one that works for you. For most people, that's the slim, sexy one with curves in all the right places, available in a variety of colors and finishes with different hairstyles (the Tangiers Phunnel). Once you've tried that one out, you just find it hard to justify all the flaws in the old girlfriend. You realize that she really was just a hollow shell of a good bowl, with "features" you never needed in the first place. But hey, everyone finds the one that works for them. Some people will always love those vacuous bowls that are mere husks of the bowls you once thought they were. Some like their bowls big, some like em small. You might think "god, that one is puke green, how could anyone want that?", but lo' and behold, someone snatches her up. You think to yourself "man, that is desperation!", but you don't know her like they know her. She may not look good in Tangiers, but baby, she's alright with Starbuzz and Fumari! And you know what? That's okay. Some people are okay with things just being "alright". Not me though. I'm going to make sweet love to my Tangiers Small tonight, and every night, because I love her. I love her so much I got some clones of her, just in case she breaks on me. I don't ever want to be without her again. Sure, they put out a new, "upgraded" version of her, but she's not MY small. Maybe I'm just a dinosaur living in modern times, wearing sunglasses and looking really fucking good, but god damn it, if the future has no place for me and my girl then I'm going back to 2009. YOLO hehehe

vassskk
Have not had any issues with vortex. For small sessions its perfect, burns all the way through, etc. I think maybe the actual amount your intended to pack into them is much less than advertised.
