squidget
Apparently I missed the memo but they want a copy of my ID now. I don't what to think about this - my initial reaction is, I'm annoyed and will be taking my business elsewhere. On the other hand, I don't know how many under 18 folks try to get their hands on shisha.
DrSmokes
Well that's quite annoying. I haven't logged in for quite some time so I guess I'll be having to do the same next time I go to order...not cool.
Stuie
Never asked me, but I did notice the DOB field now when ordering and confirmation that you are 18.

squidget
Yeah - so they just called me to explain what is happening going forward. This seems to be fairly recent. As they explained to me, since they started carrying e-cigs/e-hookahs things they have seen a rash of orders coming in for those under 18. This is for their protection. The options are take a picture of yourself and your ID and email it to them or have it sent UPS signature required where the UPS guy will ask for signature/ID. I went with option B. Personally if I were them I would just stop carrying e-cigs if they were the issue. With this new policy in affect, I doubt I will be using HS again. I get that they have to protect themselves but with online ordering its all about convenience and other guys are now more convenient.
fuckthatvincekid
I would not be surprised to see this become a standard. It's unfortunate, but how else do they protect themselves?
Chreees
They gotta do what they gotta do. I respect that they're protecting themselves and their business. Can't say the same for some other websites I've shopped with before.
mushrat
Wasn't there just some new crackdown by CC companies concerning online tobacco sales or is it just me?
Stuie
yeah the 14 year old that bought a hookah and herbal shisha off amazon with his dad's credit card... and the dad blamed amazon.....stupid dad!
Click
Can't they see if it's a debit or credit card? Debit could be anybody 16 and up I believe (at least in CA) and credit card would be 18+. Additionally, those debit gift cards would require an ID or signature confirmation too.

Plus, even if they didn't have a CC or DC, then they could always gank their parents cards and like stupid parents, they blame the online retailer, and not their own fucking child. This is a societal issue, we never blame the kids and we never out and out look at the parents and say "you are unfit to be a parent."
